bro they fall out in an number of situations exposing hot prongs. this DOES NOT and CAN NOT happen with EU sockets because they are inset. by the time the hot prong is exposed it is disconnected.

Using 120 is a great advantage for anyone plugging forks into toasters or licking electrical outlets, but other than that twice the voltage = half the amps = less energy wasted as heat.
The only reason why the US is using 120 is because Thomas Edison and co. did not foresee the need to have a 2000w gaming computer run off a single outlet during the electrification of the average home in 188X and by the time 240 rolled around there was too much infrastructure already built to just re-do everything.
Please be less retarded in the future so i do not have to play "ACTUALLY FOREIGN COUNTRY IS SUPERIOR" again in the future. This feels dirty.

Well its more that every man is entitled to a transformer within a reasonable distance of their home and can pull what they need off it instead of 100 homes huddled around a single shared transformer like the poverty stricken, AC-less niggers that they are

Needing a super special safety socket to avoid electrocuting yourself to death because your whole house is at industrial/appliance voltage just so you can charge your phone at 5VDC is TBH not desirable nor particularly efficient

They are worn. This is a bad thing. There are solutions that don't involve changing the base socket type for the entire continent, like building the internals better and putting the ground lug on top when installing.

Also, I suggested the American socket that looks almost like an F type but with twist lock for additional security. Tongue in cheek bro.

Nice to see my adoptive home has rubbed off enough I fit in.

I agree, that's why I started here and mostly went on Spoony for so long. He was the only CA person I really liked but then he tarded out of the movie scam and then just went full insane. I liked some of Marzgurl's early stuff too and she got even worse than him, but I didn't like her that much. Nick was ok for awhile, and he shit on Marzgurl a lot and then I just couldn't take him. Sorta same with Boogie I guess thought he was ok but he got so bad I can't even look at his thread anymore.

I mean if RLM or AVGN truly went apeshit like this I'd be pretty sad about it. I was sad about Mark Hamill and some others going whacko too.

ETA: Since we're talking about changing sockets now, I'd highly recommend getting one of these.

This was my first tight way back when TC started talking about how Euro outlets are better because American ones hang halfway out. I knew he was an autist lacking common sense especially in the service of arbitrary critique towards the US.

Changing an outlet is fucking easy to do. Even then, I’ve been electrocuted more while changing a light bulb (once) then I ever have from an electrical socket, even worn ones (never).

like how do you not understand this is a fundamental design flaw for a shitty fucking plug? better plugs exist. they don't have this issue. there is no concept of a loose plug in the eu.

At least I can plug in a kettle anywhere in my house because all sockets are rated to 16A and use the same type of connector
 
American light sockets are probably one of our least good every day things TBH. They are substantially dangerous to small children and much more prone to fires than other designs due to the heat generated by poor connections. They are largely a legacy of being the first place with wide-spread electricity.
