While I thought the storymode was shittly told through art cutscenes with a boring narrator I thought T7's story was just okay. I didn't like the idea of Akuma being made canon in that universe for no other reason than Capcom let them use him for marketing.

I hope the customization options is better than the last one instead of everyone getting almost the same exact shit.
 
I personally welcome Paula Phoenix on her rebirth! May she ward off the curse of 41% while Law mocks him.

That aside, I'm pretty disconnected from Tekken, but that dash cancelling seems lile it will change things a LOT.

I'm not like an uber fan of the series, at least the modern series. But the production value is always there so I tend to always pick them up. Although T7 fell flat with me and I put more time into T6.

I tend to hate guest characters in fighting games, especially when they're not even from a fighting game but I liked that Geese was in the last one. But making Akuma canon is just dumb.

LOL at Akuma being cannon. Geese can at least fight like a Tekken character, I only played an afternoon Tekken7 but used Akuma to shit on the competition (pulling of a raging demon after years without playing felt awesome) and it was pretty obvious he just doesn't work properly in the Tekken framework, just having a hadoken is huge in Tekken (probably one of the reasons why Tekken X SF died, it's so much harder to put the SF people in Tekken than the pther way around)
 
There's endless evo fag videos of Akuma shredding people since he's so broken within that universe. I can accept him being in it, but being apart of the actual plot has gotta be the dumbest thing Bandai Namco has ever done with the series.

I have got to ask. How did they staple Akuma into the plot? Dark Hadou now competes with Devil Kazuya for biggest bad?

It's not explained explicitly and you get a vague explanation from him when he confronts Heihachi. He somehow was "saved" by Kazumi, Heihachi's wife in the past and owed her a debt. So he shows up to kill Heihachi and Kazuya.
 
Truthfully, I still have yet to finish my PS1 versions of Tekken since it’s been over a few years. To think that we would get to a point where there is a Tekken 8 is both funny and insane to think about.

... wait what? And why would owning Hei's wife a solid translate to killing her hubby and son? Do Mishima's being murderous cunts also extend to their wifes?

Tekken 1 was the one I had the least experience with and I did earlier in the year. It's really rough and as shown in the video the face models in the CG scenes are really bad. The jump from that to Tekken 2 is pretty dramatic, and by Tekken 3 they pretty much nailed what they were going for. Tekken 3's intro still look good for being so old.

I think she asked him to do that. He then has to kill her in self defense because her side of the family is where the devil gene comes from. Like her whole purpose was to get close to the Mishimas and kill them. The story is a mess and wouldn't be hard to do better in T8 given this is their nearest competition.

It's also weird that she was a student at his dojo as a child (they even show this in a art cutscene she's clearly a child) when he was already an adult... and then he bangs her and has Kazuya.
 
Jun is the only other thing they can bring back after Heihachi being dead to have any significance to the main cast.

I never bought the notion of her being dead by Orge. I just don't get why they waited nearly 30 years to bring her back canonically.
 
I haven't paid attention to Tekken since 5, but lol @ Akuma being a canon character now. What the fuck.

Try Negan from The Walking Dead as DLC. They even got Jeffrey Dean Morgan to lend his likeness and voice for it.
He's admittedly one of my mains and yet I still think that one came out of left field.

I first played Tekken when it hit arcades and had them all on PS up to 5, which is what made me nope out with how ridiculous it had gotten. The whole Jinpachi thing was fucking stupid. I even have the anime on VHS somewhere.
This post makes me glad I haven't picked it up since 2005.
 
I could never get into Tekken 7 because of the shitty netcode and awful load times. Very thankful SF6 fixed this. The last beta was snappy as can be.

I doubt T8 will be any better since Harada and that faggot Murray seem to actively hate their fans.
