KOF is the only one that didn't deviate much at all from what they were in the 90s. I'll give Tekken leeway, but MK and SF are cancer.

To be fair to Tekken, at worst, they have just given characters some questionable designs but not for diversity bullshit. Just not good looks.

As for current-year-ism, there's Leo but Harada himself has taken an off-hand approach to her and she got tits in Tekken Tag 2.

So I'd give them a pass too. It helps that Bandai Namco's American branch isn't as fucked in the ass like Capcom US and never had a phase of "trying to appeal to the West" like Capcom had/has.

It can always change but for the love of God, I so hope it doesn't.

If all else fails, there's still KOF.
 
So I've played the Tekken 8 cbt for like 4 hours today and from what its worth its basically Tekken 7 with meter. I don't think its the death of Tekken like some people on Youtube have been saying, I think its just a matter of having 90% of my whole fighting game playtime being dedicated to Tekken that meter seems like such a foreign concept to me, but I guess is just a matter of learning the nuances of it and gaining the muscle memory.

I've noticed that at the beginning I had a lot of deer in the headlights moments when I activate heat and didn't really know what to do with it, but, at the end of my play session I was getting a bit more confortable with it and starting to force some really nasty situations on my opponents. The one real complain I have with it is no actual practice mode, the closest thing I've found is going into quick match, setting a requirement of 5 bars to play and no cross play, that way I didn't get interrupted with challenges every 10 seconds and had some breathing room to lab some stuff.

Doesn't really help that my main Armor King and secondary Lei aren't in the game (and with Lei I'm afraid he might not even make it, I don't think his style could be feasible with the new system but who knows) So I'm forced to play Law and King, and with King is even worse for me because he's so similar to Armor King but different in some key areas that I find myself doing AK stuff with King that obviously doesnt work. Other than that I'm having fun with it, I guess we'll just have to wait for the full release and see what happens.

The various editions of Xrd are still the best entries and the PS2 games are classics in their own right. Too bad Daisuke ruined his baby by drinking the troonshine and getting too comfy with China.

Fighting games is the new speedrunning: People gaslight themselves into thinking theyll eventually play it, knowing they won't. Myself included. And it sucks cause I was genuinely ready to buy sf6, mk1, and t8 and just go all-in on forcing myself to play them. But I just see cozier games and realize it'd be 3 hours of wasted practice, but clearly I want to play them.

Oh god, Lee. What have they done to you? What is that fucking jock strap? I guess it makes sense lore-wise because of the whole Violet Systems thing and robotocis and this suit being called the Violet Suit so I guess no playable Violet anymore.

Alisa looks pretty great. A personal gripe of mine is that she never spoke Russian but Japanese when her creator and "father" did. Would make her feel less waifu bait. I also blame Blood Vengance and several endings of TTT2 for that. I hope they fix that in 8 but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Anyway I love her design. It's cute, elegant, a bit fairy-tale like and her hair looks better. I've always been so-so on how she looked so far but this is my favorite look of hers.

Devil Jin looks ridiculous. He looks like a Twilight character in that outfit. Enough said. Though this might just be my biases and my eternal dislike of both Jin and Devil Jin. As well as my irritation that they get their own seperate slots when Kazuya has to share his with Devil.

Hopefully it just stays contained to whatever the fuck “Motions” is supposed to be about, but I’m gonna hold off and wait and see first.

I’m not sure, I was half BS-ing (except, I really do love that class and game, so I like his design).

It does get the noggin joggin though, especially when you look at the sub-class’s core sword:

It’s funny, because DFO recently made a fighting game of their own with the property, but it’s pure trash. Wonder if they popped on BN’s radar then.
