According to Harada, Tekken 3 already had it out that there was an Ogre for every landmass essentially. So something dumb like that was probably going to happen eventually based on Tekken's pretty iffy writing. Would much prefer we just got Ogre, but I am curious enough to see how silly it goes. I do know some theorized Ogre was coming out since he got a new model, so unfortunately the dots are lining up a bit.
You can still get Ogre - same way you got Reina and then for some reason Heihachi later.

Probably Japanese literal naming and I guess they just left it in English. Bit funny nobody saw an issue though.

I don't think Christie is popular, alongside her just being an Eddy clone, so why not just make Eddy. Also, what's your issue with T5? I like T4 (especially since it was my first) but most like everything with the game except the gameplay.

They changed up the new character's face, and supposedly Asuka is going to finally get her neck. Nice changes at least.
i suppose i don't hate Tekken 5 but i feel it's the start of where Tekken began going to shit, it has worse music and stages than four barring moonlit wilderness, which granted is a high bar to cross. i feel Tekken four has one of the best goddamn soundtracks in fighting games. the gameplay in 5 is better by quite a ways, i'll relent that, Tekken 4 competitively is.... awful.

But the majority of my hate with Tekken 5 is it's the beginning of fucking over characters with atrocious writing and the series being much less serious as a whole. this is bias for sure but i loved Law, Marduk and Paul to death, especially Paul, and seeing him in Tekken four compared to five makes my blood boil. the serious, strong, driven competitor who beat ogre and won the last tournament, the man who fought Kazuya to a draw is now a fucking sperg retard that loses to kuma, and talking about how he wants to fight aliens, they fucking murdered him, marduk, law and many others.

They just dropped anyone who isn't a Mishima from mattering at all and later on in the series start trying to make Heihachi of all people a good guy, fuck right off. Oh, and no tekken force.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Ogre showed up in the next game since the devil gene is kinda gone and Azazel is gone I think.I hope that if Miary is related to Ogre that she brings out some vicious moves because that would be some funny dissonance. After all, if she learned moves from animals, it would be pretty neat if that mean things like tigers or snakes, rather than just the lemurs mentioned in her bio. Bit optimistic, though I guess T8 animations have been pretty good, with the worry about Armor King being more his gameplay at this point since he looks pretty neat.

Story-wise is definitely agreeable, and one of the things people look on fondly for that game. Every character was at least doing something. I enjoyed TTT2 and T8s character endings, but they are much more light fluff compared to T4. Story-wise since T5 only Mishima's have really had any progression, so fair enough for that. I do like T4's soundtrack a lot, but I do think both T5/T6 also have pretty good soundtracks (though T6 might be some nostalgia helping).

Hopefully someday they can actually develop non-Mishima's, though with Reina being set up and her being pretty popular I bet she'll be a major character in T9. So we might just get more Jin using his Mishima techniques to beat up his family, or Heihachi will be the major threat, especially since Kaz and Jin don't have the devil gene anymore. Who knows, maybe when Harada retires if the series can actually last.

had to nose exhale at Mashmallow Law, Yoshi-Mid-Sauce and Fakely Ram-a-Ram

Kazuya and Jin don't have the devil gene anymore? Dear lord what the hell happened? Never thought i'd say this if you asked me a decade ago, but i'm happy i don't play Tekken anymore. The "characters" in the new games are just husks walking around wearing the skin of characters i loved a long time ago.

I just wish there were other 3d fighters out, if you don't like Tekken, or stopped liking Tekken years ago you know what your choice is in a 3d fighter? Tekken. Soulcal's dead, Doa is dead, Bloody Roar has been dead for twenty years, Toy fighter, Plasma Sword, Rival Schools, Power Stone all the same. And because everything nowadays costs so much money and time to make we don't get anything out of the box or in the indie space, we don't get anything but Tekken.

I hope to god the new Virtua Fighter is good whenever that comes out, please god be good, give Tekken some damn competition again.

I hope Soul Calibur gets another shot, it sounds like it died because of reversal edge and COVID right as the competitive was taking off.
DoA they should've made a spinoff, because trying to sanitize the series caused a lot of controversy.
I guess Mortal Kombat was 3D for a few games, though those seemed kinda janky but fun.
I hope VF does fine, but it has a lot riding on it and probably depends on netcode/singleplayer content, since the series is notorious for being hard to get into and VF6 doesn't look to be changing that.

Though to be honest, I don't know why there's even a bunch of fighting games coming out. They don't seem to bring in that much money for the investment, and netcode is so important for them these days. I'd understand it much more in 20 years or so when you can actually play online with someone in a different region reliably.

Is Tekken 8 worth picking up? Don't have much experience in fighting games, but it looked fun.
Initially Tekken appealed more to me than SF6. SF has relatively brief, difficult, (rewarding) combos, whereas Tekken is all hype and "blacks with they hands in they air" type shit. Then I actually watched some tournament play and while sure, the combat felt less specifically punishing, each and every launcher resulted in 10 seconds of non-gameplay. You know, rather than someone catching your hand midair and rewarding you with a slap, you instead pass your controller to them for tens of seconds until they fumble. Rinse repeat. That shit ain't enjoyable, not even to look at.

On top of that, the numbers aren't lying. SF6 is several times over more popular, a greater legacy, a brighter future, and no developer communication is certainly better than what Mr Tekken has done so far, which is the exact opposite of being the heckin' based zoomer he initially came across as. Fighting games as a genre is less about what game you prefer and what is the rational choice. Force yourself to enjoy the only good game or suffer among the 80 other people playing Power Rangers.

The new face looks a little better, but she still screams red flags (please don't tie her to Ogre, Harada).

It's Mark Kern. Don't question it, there's only so much stupid one person can take.
95% of the antisjw and the antisjw youtubers are pretty fucking bad nowadays for their own autsitic reasons, and when you try to correct them they pretty much go, "La la la la la. I can't hear you ur a genderfluid freak lalala" (Reminder Groomerfist and DdayCobra got mad when they were exposed for supporting the Switch 2).

i agree, arslan is such a shithead.

Its insane Qudans has been playing competitively for 20+ years. Heck, Heihachi isn't too egregious besides WI being free to get and often a free round, though not too much in comparison to Anna's looping DF1,2 gauntlet.

It is sad he dropped Devil Jin after so long, but playing him its not hard to see why. Mourning Crow is so slow and not very interesting. I hope they realize there's a bunch more you can do outside adding stances and changing inputs.

"SAAR, Bryan unfair!!!! Why no Anna buffs!!! "
God I hate the Paki players.
Admittedly I don't know if its just their English presence isn't big, but Arslan is normally the only one I have a problem with. Atif just plays whoever's strongest and that's all, while Arslan is probably part of the reason characters are so busted if the slightest nerf gets him calling foul. I do wonder if him being much less dominant outside of EVO is him trying less or his opponents trying more for the bigger cash pots.

Every time someone mentioned a "Tekken pro," I always used to picture some scrawny asian guy with a bowl cut wavedashing at 299,792,458 m/s. That's how it was for decades. Now, all of a sudden, I'm supposed to picture a... quasi pajeet Nina fag? Nonononono this timeline is so fucking fucked.
If it makes you feel any better no Paki players got to the finals of EWC. Just two Asian nerds playing honest characters.

>for Asuka's neck area, making a large correction all at once would cause significant breakdowns
........... so then fix them. That's what people pay you to do!

All I'm getting out of this is "we don't want to because it's too hard, and we're lazy fucks that don't want to go through our shit code to correct it"
