So many people not rematching, wtf is going on. Luckily, no ragequits so far.
bro just hit the random button until you found your actual main. you are skilled enough with nina, so anna might be your next try haha.
Sort of did what you said, but not through the random button. No idea why, but Azucena caught my attention. Though, cant say if that's going to be my main. Anna also looks cool, might pick up the S2 pass if I see it cheap.
Bit of a gap gameplay wise, but a bit of variety can't hurt. Just trying her out in ranked/quick match should at least give you an idea of what you are working with and whether she's fun or not, but if you want a little extra:
Tekken Docs has a decent guide which gives you an idea of her important moves and punishes.
For combos, if you are curious or just like trying them, Ryzing Sol is a pretty good source for combos. Here's Lidia specifically.

Technically Anna bridges the gap, having a bit of Nina's gameplay with some stances mixed in, but I can't exactly recommend buying DLC for the game until Bamco gets off its ass. Also might invoke a bit of your muscle memory since they are so close, which could screw you up.
Alright, thanks for the info, didn't know about Tekken Docs, looks good so far. I only bought S1 for Lidia, S2 apart from Anna and maybe the PacMan stage is not really interesting to me. No idea why both Tekken and Street Fighter season passes are so bad.

Sometimes this game can be fun if I am not getting knowledge checked into oblivion.

its called learning. get your ass into the blue ranks now now NOW NOW NOW NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Blue is going to take a while, I am going to assume once I reach Mighty Ruler I will get stuck for a while.
Not too much progress today, can put more time into the game this weekend.

Tekken 8 got horrifying real quick with all the monetization... sadly, I walked away. I will NEVER fall for Namco's shit again.

Yeah, the monetization in Tekken and in fighting games in general is pretty shit. It's not going away sadly, but as long as they don't go back to selling essential stuff like frame data display again it's probably the best worst scenario we are in.

break out the 10 hit, they never expect it

How's Azucena? I've heard she's pretty fun, and not too bad to fight either.

Selling the nostalgia costumes on top of releasing them at a glacial pace is really something. It makes me really curious how S3 will turn out, since the game definitely feels like its on life support.

She is fun, a lot of stance shenanigans, pretty evasive. I think once you get really good with her, you can just mix people into oblivion. Not the typical character I play, but Tekken seems to be different for me in this regard. And the coffee stuff is just funny.

I mean, SF6 felt like it's on life support since release. But yeah, costumes seem to be nonexistent apart from the customization stuff. I really hope when S3 roll around, it's going to be a good patch this time. As for characters, there are some I saw in Tekken 7 that I would like to return, but I expect another guest character to be the first one to build up some hype.

I don't understand how if SF5 got so much. As far as I'm aware, SF6 has the best numbers of any fighting game, isn't widely panned like T8 (especially S2), yet it seems almost abandoned by Capcom. I guess it doesn't do numbers like REmake slop.
- Pick Kuma
- Land knockdown
- Charge db2+3 or do wr2

I went from hating the brain dead meta to embracing the kusoge.
I've been wanting to pick up Alisa to go full unga bunga, but always bounced off. Someday I'll surely embrace the way T8 was meant to be played.

Yesterday was really awful, blocked over a dozen people for shitty PC / connection and not rematching. Also, I didn't have a great time in general with the game. Running into a squad of Alisa's who do "random bullshit go" and don't rematch left me with fewer points and no matchup knowledge. No idea what is going on with the playerbase. Today was better, though it is getting more difficult to win. Have to work on my offense though since I am starting to autopilot too much.

If your looking for long sets, quick match lets you rematch endlessly so some people would rematch for a while. The worst is people canceling 1-1, that's super tilting.

Well quick match and long sets is something a smart person would do, I tend to go for the head against the wall approach until either one breaks. But yeah, I should start learning some basic matchup stuff. 0-1 is already annoying, but 1-1 is probably worse.

I'd just like to remind everyone that Tekken Bowl was DLC in Tekken 7. A little minigame mode that was free in literally every other Tekken game before 7.

No, it's not essential, but why pay for something that used to be free?

Also, have T8 added Team Battle yet, or am I going to wait for a sale below 50 bucks?

Miary Zo's trailer is out. Also AK releases tomorrow.

On one hand I'd like to wait and see S3. Maybe they just planned a year in advance. But damn.

The one nice thing with AK is they removed shadow step, so he's still got only one stance. As far as we currently know, he can't mix stance on block, but its not fully known I believe. In heat, he has a mid, mid powercrush that's +5. You'd hope that reading that makes it obvious how stupid that is. He seems to still have some previous identity, just with stupid offense thrown on top.

Miary is Clive again. She's got magic, staff moves, and looks like 2 stances (3 if you include the weird wall thing). You've got people complaining about her skin tone being too light, complaining about pole dancing, or complaining about her being an Ogre. Definitely feels like a Soul Calibur character, wish that series was still alive so it didn't infect Tekken. Also hope it doesn't do too well so they can stop, but by then Tekken will probably be dead too. I guess its a bit hard to be mad when this has been the direction of the whole year.

So AK is out (not online though). From my own labbing, he's going to be a menace against new players like King, but I'm not too sure about above that. Probably a little overtuned, but he doesn't seem too annoying.

First, Bad Jaguar (or BAD/BJ). Despite what it looks, it does not crush highs, and it seems like the parry is a gimmick if anything. I think the parry is only active when manually activating the stance, and honestly I'm fine with that since so many stances are useful purely from transitions. The most advantage you can get on block with a stance transition is 0 (though 8 in heat), and with your fastest option being 11f. So on block, if your opponent transitions to BAD, you can jab and it beats all options. Real 10f punish seems to beat all options besides armor, so he can admittedly turn things in his favor in heat (since armor can be plus in heat).

The unbreakable grabs from his mist is fortunately not a debuff, though I guess that should've been apparent from the gameplay demos. It's sorta gimmicky, unblockable but the same speed as wavedash 3. Also wavedash 3 is cancellable, so whether its better or not is up to you. Do also note that the grabs are scaled, and in heat you get a whopping 5 extra chip damage on mist hit. (Also 10 frames faster in heat, 25 frames which is still reactable but difficult).

His lows seem pretty good, not sure if that's always been a thing. I guess in T7 ff n 2 was a CH launcher, but not anymore, just a guaranteed heat engager I believe.

Only thing I'm worried about (outside heat) is I can't tell if his chain grab is readable or a mixup like shining wizard/giant swing. Especially since it looks it can be either a 1, 2, or you can just do a 1+2 since you can UF 1+2 grab from wavedash. Also I imagine his execution seems quite a bit easier, since chain grabs can just be one button. I guess we'll see if he's strong in tourney or just a noob stomper like Fahk. I definitely could be missing a lot.

Otherwise, no balance changes but old input options seem to be back, at least King's grab and Lee's blazing kick so that's nice.
