I only bought a computer (a gayming laptop) once, with the first big payout from my first job at a call center. I had worked for 30 days straight, 13 hours per day, stalking people and asking for their shifts. That was a long time ago. Since then, I got
one laptop as a gift from a guy whose CV I reworked (he got hired),
one laptop as a gift from a butler for a British-Russian "elite" family (formerly his young charge's laptop, her parents bought her a new one) -- he replaced the UK plug, too,
and two were left over from job scams/mishaps, they didn't ask for their (at the time hi-end) laptops back and I didn't volunteer.
I always wanted a desktop, and (once it became possible) displays to span 120 degrees. But life keeps giving me free laptops. Thanks, life!
