Let me know if you think we need a template for something. I'll expand this as I build them, especially with infoboxes.

Inter-website templates
archive.today is very important in backing up 3rd party information. If you can't fit a screenshot or a snippet on a page, use archive.today in addition to linking to the main page.

Lolcow Series Templates
For easy and systematic categorization, please use the series tags whenever possible. I will be expanding these to include other Lolcows, but for anything Jace related.

Never apply [[Category:Name]] tags directly into an article. Templates should exist for that purpose.

Infoboxes

Please, please, please review the user infobox on Jace's page. I will be keeping that most up to date. I do not use Gamerfood's templates. That whole ally/troll/enemy/deaglenation whatever infobox needs to die in a fire.

I spent today adding in a Lua script parser so we can support the very complicated templates that appear on Wikipedia, including what they use for their infoboxes. Check out this template and this module as an example.

The end result is, currently, is being able to use that br list template, which makes life super easier (especially in info boxes). I've added a web presence argument on the Infobox. When supplying websites, use this template.

This creates the tidy list you see in the template.

I was using a Gamerfood style infobox on the Church article as a placeholder only. Sorry about that.

How about a template for an article needing citations? Kind of like the work in progress one..

Quote boxes:

I tried to place an article in a quote box, but that template does not exist. I am trying to learn the code for creating one. Is it okay if I try to make a quotebox template. I started it by accident, but having a collapsable quotebox template may be something that is wanted. Right or wrong?

Quoteboxes are really guady and are used extremely sparingly in Wikipedia.

Can you give me an example of what you're trying to accomplish?

Agreed, I was trying to make it so it would set aside or even be hidden, just in case the reader did not want to see it. Hence the question about making a hidden template or function as well. The Champthom and Kengel Conversation. I am still trying to make it work. Here is a badly done bootstrapped example. At least the quote is separated.

Wikipedia has something like this on their site site in the section called Quote_box template under Collapsing text:

When I tried that before it have me a red warning saying it did not exist.

Edit: it may have been the space a space between Quote and Box.

Is there a page with these templates on the wiki?

I really do not want to bother you again. I am new to wikis and usually do writing or info gathering.

Sorry, I hate that place too. I was just trying to make the quotes smaller and not take up the page.

If need be, I can just create another page for long conversations. Or just reference an Archived Page.

Yeah, do that. If you need to preserve a large document, make a new page (e.g. name it something like Null's Long Explanatory Thesis on New Articles) and use that as a reference.
 
Huge update on the way references are handled.

Before, I've encouraged everyone to do a really shitty thing where, in the middle of articles, you would need to include full references. For instance:

This is a huge difference because it lets you easily see references while still utilizing a common template and not taking gross amounts of space inline with text..

Pointing out the above again. ^^^ Much tidier to use {{references}} than just using <references /> or letting the document terminate.
 
Thinking about doing some modifications to the person infobox. I think it'd be better to have ages calculated as Wikipedia does (with a template). Instead of two separate lines for their birth date and age, it'd be one line. To illustrate, instead of

Birth Date: February 24, 1982
Age: 34

It'd be

Birth Date: February 24, 1982 (age 34)

This would also be better if, God forbid, someone ends up dying. Wikipedia has a separate template for that, that calculates the person's age when they died. That would be useful for articles like Elliot Rodger and Kenneth Alexander Van Camp, the subjects of which are both deceased.

If you'd like, just be sure it works backwards. Use {{Wikipedia template}} and {{Wikipedia module}} as required.
 
@Null requesting an ADF Series template. (Or I can make it myself if you'd rather.)

Additionally, we may want a "Rat King" template or series of some sort.
