Man, what a powerful soliloquy that was. "Watching John with the Terminator ... " And I never thought I'd use the term "soliloquy" when talking about T2. Goddamn is that movie good.
Does anyone like the extended cut of T2? I personally loved having more of the film to enjoy than before, and I guess that speaks to how well those scenes were written and shot. They were unnecessary, but they added more meat and flavor to the film. T1 also had some cut scenes and subplots that demonstrated how much of T2's DNA was in T1, and gave us a little more of the supporting cast with Lt. Traxler and Det. Vukovich.
I thought Biehn's crying performance in that one deleted scene in the forest was a little laughable, but I still appreciate that scene. To his credit, I think Biehn or someone else could've done a lot worse. The way he delivered that "it's like a dream" line was kind of haunting. Funny thing about that scene is that's actually where the phrase "There's no fate but what we make for ourselves" came from. Those were Sarah's word; her interpretation of Kyle's and John's message: "the future is not set".
If there's any saving grace for Dark Fate, it would be the music. While I'm not impressed with what I've heard so far, maybe Junkie XL will pull through with something decent. Then again, I'm assuming he's also in charge of the overall sound design of the film, which means he's responsible for the goofy squished mustard bottle sound effect when Grace smashed the REKT-9's leg in the earlier trailers. Well, maybe that's jumping the gun. Trailers often have a different sound production than the final film.
