Terrorists Attack Texas "Draw Mohammed" Event

So... This happened.

Basically, two murderous idiots decided to prove their enemies right.

I don't like Pamela Geller, but she definitely proved herself to be an incredible troll.

ISIS Claims Credit, unsurprisingly. Of course, if Geller gets her way and the US opens up internment camps, what does ISIS care? Proper Muslims shouldn't leave the Middle East!

I dunno, if I were in charge of ISIS, I'd just pretend that didn't even happen.

Like "Haha, infidels, cower as our agents slightly injure one person and get shot to death in the process, clearly this is a victory for us!"

Dammit Texas, how did you leave your guard down!?
I'm actually surprised this didn't happen at Austin.
I'm gonna go draw Mohammed now

Edit: Now I think all attacks on ISIS are justified.
they attacked the homeland and now we have to liberate the fuckers.

Geller is a very... contentious personality. She probably couldn't find a venue in Austin (they would have rejected "that crazy zionist lady" sight unseen) and it was easier to find a venue in the Dallas metro area, especially since she needed people prepared (and hoping) for violence.

shit, we had a zionist sponser it?
damn, now I don't konw if I should follow this since it could be part of a zionist plot.
I'm feeling conflicted right now.

Y'know, when you're making an event like this you're kind of asking for shit like this to happen
and since it happened, it now justifies even more that muslims can't handle american freedoms

That was the point. The onus is on Muslims to not rise to the bait.

Yup. The fundies are like the lunatic guy in the bar who'll be throwing glasses if he so much as thinks someone is looking at him or his bird. When Dave flips out, the regulars will condemn his violence but will also criticise the victim for riling him up. Over time, Dave's fuse gets ever shorter to the point where everybody sits staring at the floor. There's a sudden silence in the room after someone scrapes their chair on the floor, and the vein on Dave's head begins to pulse.

The action is inflammatory, no doubt. The blame lies entirely with the attackers and those who would attempt to justify their actions. They'll attack for damn near any reason and there's absolutely no pleasing them. There's a risk of upsetting Muslims, and there's also the need for people to people to unreservedly condemn this kind of violence. There's also nothing wrong with Muslims condemning the event itself, and I'd myself think the event is a bit childish if people weren't going around killing people for such things.

Daesh's claim on the attack was kind of rushed and weird. I wouldn't be surprised if they saw it and decided it would look good for them and rushed to claim it. Previous attackers had declared their allegiance to Daesh (Charlie Hebdo and Canada did, I think), but this is the first one the group has claimed itself.

Elton Simpson (one of the shooters) was well known to the intelligence community -- he was under surveillance since 2006 and had been convicted in 2011 for lying to the FBI. I'm glad to see the US' little panopticon society continues to return such great results.

Politics sperging ahead:

I am 99% sure that ISIS is just bullshitting and has no way to prove they had anything to do with this attack, but it makes sense that they would claim it was them. Sure, the attack was a complete failure, but until now, ISIS has been a far-away threat, fighting across the world in various war-torn shitholes like Syria and North Africa. No-one cares if ISIS shoots up a village in Mali. But Texas? That's much closer to home. Suddenly the US government has to worry about ISIS attacks on their own soil: sure, the two shooters are dead, but how many more ISIS recruits are there in the USA?

Assuming that it turns out ISIS isn't full of shit, then I guarantee the perpetrators would have been impressionable teens who were recruited over the internet. I doubt ISIS's involvement would have been much more then telling these two guys to "go shoot up this event", but it still presents a massive security issue for the USA.

This and the Boston bombings are also making the NSA look pretty piss-poor, in my opinion. If you're going to take away our liberty, at least give us the safety we were promised.

Seems like they were prepared pretty well though, given that all they ended up with was one minor injury and two dead terrorists.

"Good old Texas" I suppose. They at least have courage, unlike wimpy California. My state will be too scared of being labeled racist or "islamicphobic"..

Anyways, glad they put a stop to the chaos before anyone was seriously hurt by the wannabe terrorists.

same reason why that one brony gets pissed when people draw porn of twilight sparkle

Difference is that guy doesn't then throw a riot and burn down half the city, or actually murder anyone. Though that Taxman guy is starting to worry me a bit.

Religion: it's a hell of a drug.
