finally finished downloading the Terry Davis archive, gonna watch the whole lot and clip stuff in a more organized manner because autism there aren't enough Terry Davis clips on the internet
I've seen some Terry A Davis clips on Youtube floating around. I knew he was smart but I didn't realize just how smart he was.

After understanding some of the concepts he was talking about it became clear to me that he was right about a lot of stuff. He was right about his evaluation of Linux being like a 1970s Mainframe. He was right about a genius admiring simplicity and an idiot admiring complexity.

It has made me realize how much the world lost because of his Schizophrenia and his death. I feel a profound sense of sadness because of what we lost.
I don't think TempleOS has no value I think people haven't realized how valuable it is. TempleOS is the modern day version of a Commodore-64 as Terry himself said. Software development is in a bad place and it will likely only get worse. Eventually people will try things to make it better that aren't making a new Javascript Framework or some kind of marginally better new language. With shitty AI code around the corner I think eventually nearly all software will have to be rebuilt. When that attempt happens, I think something that resembles TempleOS or TempleOS itself will be useful.

If I had children after giving them Scratch to program with, I would give them a computer with TempleOS to learn on.

(sorry in advance for long post but I wanted to do him justice)

I'd like to pay my respects to this man personally. He's changed my view of things for the better in a lot of ways. I owe him a lot in this regard.

I used to (and still somewhat do) think the world is a deeply unjust place. Every day you see terrible people who don't deserve their fortunes as well as amazing people who don't deserve their misfortunes. I'd consider Terry to be in the latter, but there's more I'd like to say about him than just that.

People still come to pay their respects 6 years after his death. This says a lot about the significant impact he has left on people. Even if those people didn't know him personally, his story, to me at least, reads like a beautiful Shakespearean tragedy, with many profound lessons to learn from his life. The difficulties he went through made everything that he created that much more real, and that much more valuable.

He martyred himself in his work, and fought for what he truly believed in even if at times the world, and even his own mind fought against him. Externally and internally there was conflict to be found. But not even death stopped his message from being communicated to thousands (if not more) around the world. This persistence and strength of his spirit speaks volumes to me.

I apologize for not having better words to describe what I think. I wish that I could spoken to him personally and told him to keep doing what he was doing. It really was God's work in a way.

Rest In Peace Terry. Your story really resonated with me and I'm glad to have heard it.
