Inactive Terry A. Davis / Terrence Andrew Davis - Creator of TempleOS (formerly LoseThos/sparrowOS)

I wonder what has happened to his corpse, it might still be in the local morgue or coroners office in the Dalles. He will probably end up being cremated and his ashes sent back to his father, if it already hasn’t happened yet.

If he got hit by a train, they probably picked up the big bits and cleaned up the rest with a hose. There's so much energy in one of those things it doesn't leave a lot behind.

You know like before people die they have a relief, so you think they are getting better? I hoped Terry wiil have something like this to say final good-byes to his loved ones. And now I realise that maybe he had one and decided to end it all. Take it into his own hands before he succumbs into madness once again.

This dude left several (presumably decently paid) jobs when he no longer wanted to work them, built an OS in the genuine belief that it was a religious calling, and went homeless twice to avoid being institutionalized. If anything can he said about Terry's life, it's that he lived it on his own terms. Sick or not, I find that pretty noble.

I honestly feel like crying over some crazy homeless dude I’ve only ever seen on the internet, shit I’m such a wimp.

I still am sad that we've lost Terry. I never met him, though I have played around with Temple OS. You can feel both his genius and insanity when you use it. It's definitely weird, but at the same time very impressive. Of all of the lolcows, Terry was in a different category. Terry was loved.

I started mirroring his archives some days back, and it's still going on. Thankfully, I'm copying them to a 4 TB hard drive. While we'll never have new Terry updates, he was so prolific with his videos and code that it can be treasured for years.

You might be a wimp, I have no idea. But I'm not going to judge anyone feeling sad about Terry's passing.

lol with MISTER GOD!!!

Agreed. I found out the news ~3 days ago and I've still yet to fully get over it. If it was suicide, that's even more tragic and confounding, since Terry seemed such an unwavering bastion of confidence and self-reliance. His last video that shows moments of self-awareness viewed through a completely foreign lens of inferiority and doubt is haunting. I was really hoping through this entire homeless arc for a return to some form of environmental stability for him, making this end even more crushing.

In some of his more lucid moments, Terry would speak to one of the primary impetuses behind the construction of TempleOS -- his formative experiences with the Commdore64 and the rich environment it provided to facilitate and encourage his own passion for programming. TempleOS was, among other things, his attempt to recreate that same programming playground for a new generation in the hopes that they would learn the same joy and self-reliance in programming he gained many years ago. It is by those sorts of kind and noble intentions through which I choose to characterize and remember Terry.

My favorite quote from Terry is "Boredom leads to craftiness." In the wake of Terry's departure, he has left us with much time to become crafty. Godspeed, Terry. Thank you for your work. Rest well, templar.

I came on after hearing through metokurs Sunday stream. Damn. Didn't follow him very much but appreciated him for who he was and how much he accomplished despite his illness. Didn't know he was homeless, going to have to catch up. Fucking hell this is sad.

Hope he's romping with the elephants, finally free from the luminescent african americans and CIA child plants.

Does anyone have a vid that was called "Terry A. Davis VS Linus Torvalds (TempleOS VS Linux)" archived?
