After what she did to Tomb Raider, it's nice to see what the BBC has done to her father's legacy.

For anybody under the hopeful impression that this had been shitcanned in response to the universally extreme negative reaction to the first pictures and story details.....im sorry

Do a fucking comparison right now. Maybe you all here can tell me which one of these two images has more soul, charm, and humanity in it. I'll give you a little hint: it ain't the one with the insufferably drab filter, humorless visual tone, and cookie cutter, plastic-faced men and women that I can barely tell apart.

I'm going to make this a little bit worse for everyone:

Captain Carrot looks like Matpat.

The whole reason Pratchett's work does so well is that his work is fundamentally different in approach to wokeshit. It's not 'these people are great, they're better than you even', it's 'everyone's a bastard, even you, so don't go thinking that these guys are some kind of special bastard or that they're any more of a bastard than someone who lives next door.'

And just when yall thought there could not be any more misery in store for us, I just stumbled accross the twitter account of the casting director for this abortion who is currently chimping out against anybody talking shit about the series in response to the latest photo to come out

In this moment, I remember that cringy tumblr post on how "The perks of being a wallflower" is Disallowed to be for normies, and sigh. Those people feel they can judge what is for whom, but, apparently, they can just take anything and make it their.

Oh the sweet irony. Of all characters, the ones coming out of this with their dignity intact are Nobby and Colon.

The thing that pisses me off: Pratchett was very liberal and his books are choke full of liberal values and witty comments on political issues of our time. But at no point does it feel like he's chastising anyone, at no point does he waggle his finger or get off on his moral superiority.
Pratchett has done what this show aims for, and he made it in the best way possible. The show feels like a giant fuck-you to the fans, an intentional disservice, to inject woke shit into a franchise that has always been liberal.

Then again, Jingo contains the wisdom that someone might be an asshole, even if he's from a foreign nation. The moment wokists get wind of that would be pretty iritating I guess.

It's not an intentional 'fuck you' to the fans (the fuck you to the fans is when they'll call us all white supremacists that should neck ourselves for daring to criticize their daring and culturally relevant adaption) . They flat out just don't give a shit about the fans 99.99% of the time. This is just a vehicle for the writers, nothing more and nothing less. Some woke performative piece to further get attention and hopefully their foot in the door to Hollywood where they can then tell THEIR stories.

Wait, isn't that the drag freak who appeared on a science video (or something like that) published on the BBC twitter account a year ago?

The thing is, these people do not have stories of their own to tell, they only have political talking points that they string along to create something resembling a narrative.
Instead of a protagonist moving along a plot to overcome obstacles and achieve some goal, you end up with a mouthpiece that stumbles from one pointless situation to the other, and they are only meant to act as a vehicle for the writer to climb atop his favorite soapbox to parrot a Twitter-approved opinion into an intellectual void. This will then be deemed stunning and brave by Twitter's crybullies.

And since the writers know that no one will give a damn if they do it with characters they created themselves, they become parasites that infest popular media franchises, to spread their political views. How long can this keep on going? They are already defiling Pratchett, Tolkien might be next, what else is there? All modern popular franchises have been turned to woke shit already. And when will casual viewers finally realize that they have been subjected to this kind of pseudo-intellectual, pseudo-progressive diarrhea? When will they finally yearn for more than just a fickle distraction from their consoomer lifestyle?

At this point I'm convinced Woke Hollywood is a massive laundering scheme to keep all their writers hired. I can't imagine anyone sitting down in a board meeting and seriously coming to the conclusion that this is going to be successful at all.
The problem is, some of this shit sells. And never underestimate the power of "working for peanuts". These shitty writers are the bottom of the barrel, and they work for a pittance. Sometimes, their works sell for some obscure reason (usually marketing buzz, the use of some celebrity, causing a shitstorm which results in a counter-shitstorm of support and so on), that's why they keep their jobs.

I guess the best way to remain sane and to get some entertainment out of this is watching how many companies fail over and over for the same reason.
Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, Batwoman and so on... there's many franchises ruined by wokeshit, and they keep on shelling it out, expecting it to work the next time.

I just can't wait to see on whose legacy is Hollywood gonna piss next

What pisses me off is that Cheery works as a LGBT allegory already. For the uninitiated, you remember that scene in the Two Towers where we find out female dwarfs have beards? Pratchett takes that and runs with it. All dwarfs go by the pronoun "he" by default and wear so much leather and chainmail that body shape is indistinguishable. Dwarf courtship involves finding out, in subtle and respectful ways, what gender the other dwarf is. Only now there's been a bit of a social revolution where female dwarfs are coming out of the closet, wearing lipstick and high heels and declaring as a matter of fact, they don't like beer. They don't shave their beards off though, they're just declaring that they're female, not that they're not dwarfs. Not only does that work as an LGBT allegory, it's also fucking hilarious.

Exactly! And Terry had fun with it. The other Dwarves being shocked they can see Cheery's ankles when she wears a leather skirt, rather than leather pants. Steel soled boots with heels welded on.

Yeah, it was a very witty way to address that matter without being too on-the-nose and without bringing in too much irl baggage. It worked fantastically. So of course these clowns can't replicate it.

I love the book where Cheery slowly expands her feminine aspects little by little and even though she's anxious, she just feigns confidence until she becomes confident. The way how it confuses Vimes is so funny.
I especially love the scene where three dwarves meet Cheery when she wears her leather skirt, the first one yells something about obscenity and how he can see her knees before he stomps off angrily. The second one awkwardly goes "... but those are really nice knees." before running away and the third one starts fidgeting around and then blurts out "Can you tell me where I can get a skirt like that?".
It's so endearing. It's outright adorable. I love it.

What do we get now? Some fucking assholes with dreadlocks - and I can tell by looking at the actor that his sole identity is his sexuality and skin color. At least I can get my own amusement out of the show bombing horribly and still being extended for at least another season, cause modern production companies and studios are retarded that way.
