Is Tesla Gay?

I saw one a few hours after you made this post and I agree, although the one I saw was moving quickly and not obnoxious.
This one was idling at a stoplight, yet it sounded like a gas motor idling.

It was a hot summer day, so I thought it may have been some kind of cooling system.

I keep reading that as "ice", so my brain thinks it's funny how that describes something that uses heat to work.
They make all sorts of weird noises at different times in order to condition the battery or cycle the heat pump before, during, and after driving, A few of the modes are quite loud. But most of the time they are pretty much dead quiet except for tire and wind noise. Of course there is the gay back-up sound as well.

You used to be able to play music or a variety of funny sounds over the loud externally mounted speaker (like coconut fake horse clipping sounds or tiki bar music) but they removed that in a recent revision because the no fun police got to them. Oh can still yell Nigger over the car’s PA system. You can even do that remotely using the app and then watch the car’s cameras remotely to see peoples reactions. Fun!

The nice thing about electrics cars is that they're far simpler than ICEs.
I keep hearing that, but I work in auto and we keep having to put more and more engineers on the EV programs. Far more than on the gas stuff.
Probably front-loading some of the work as there isn't any emissions work or anything to do.
My guess in actual amounts of work is that MAYBE it's a little less work overall.
All of the extra work is programming and controls.

EV's have nearly every single part in common with ICE vehicles except for internal engine parts; they have suspensions, radiators, transmissions (some even with multiple gears like the Taycan), etc.. The simplification is a myth and dealers are not going to go out of business because of a lack of yearly oil changes. Tesla's have a yearly service including tire rotation, air filters, washer fluid, checking brake fluid and coolant levels, and in cold climates, lubing the brake calipers. They do pretty much everything that a dealer does on a gas car's service except do an oil change.
Example service:

Also, Tesla's have had lots of drive unit failures, which is the equivalent of needing an engine rebuild. If I wanted a reliable vehicle, I'd rather have a "complex" Honda/Toyota ICE than a "simple" Tesla motor. The cooling system for the batteries is also quite complex.

Yup. "More parts = more complexity = bad" is about as basic bitch as it gets. The funny thing is on a combustion engine, what really needs servicing? I have an 09 Edge with 226k on it and I've done spark plugs, serpentine belt, and the alternator.

Only bugmen who don't work on things buy into this shit.

It's a myth that has reach. Car repair channels, which I dip in to now and then on the youtubes, all parrot it without question (except Uncle Rich. He knows what's up).

I think it's partly coming from the unconscious, or even conscious realisation that EVs are going to be increasingly non-user-servicable, meaning they'll only be serviceable at properly licensed, specialist repair centres. It's "simplification" in the sense that they can't dig into the guts of the drive and repair it, they way they could with an ICE engine, because it's a sealed unit. The battery packs are already sealed units in a lot of new models. It wouldn't surprise me if they try to find some way to make the wheel hubs, brakes, and rims a single, sealed unit at some point - or something along those lines. Anything to reduce "complexity" will increasing control.

This right here is why I hate EV’s and their shit sack drivers
I charge at the office for free
No retard it’s not “free” it’s payed for with taxes, that means I’m paying, that means your postie is paying, that means the cunt who cleans your septic tank is paying. But then you’re gonna run around meaning how you’re entitled to everyone else’s hard work
We had hoped that Biden’s Build back Brandon bill would pass and we would qualify for a big tax credit,
This is what I mean, so sorry you missed out on your gooberment gibs you fucking nigger

Clearly you’ve got money but you still have to find a way to eek out every Penny from your fellow man
Your gay electric car and it’s faggy charging network would not exist if the government didn’t steal from the rest of us to keep the operation afloat.
One day soon the money is going to run out you commie retard, then you’re going to be stick driving a gas shitbox like the rest of us peasants
Autopilot allowed for low-stress driving and fostered stimulating conversations.
God in heaven you are a giant fucking faggot.

Oh yes well I have to avoid the stress of keeping the car in its lane, unlike you poors in your primitive poor person cars we have our children iPads so they could better themselves on the drive, oh we have such stimulating conversations on our journeys

That’s you that’s what you sound like you pretentious piece of shit gay cunt

Edit: oh and stop triple posting you fucking retard

Just thought of something else, stop calling Tesla minimalist design, it’s lazy design, they aren’t taking out everything you don’t need they’re giving you the bare minimum they think you’ll accept

I like simple gas cars as much as anyone but what do you think of a low pressure steam engine that can run on anything you can burn? If gas production crawls and becomes too expensive for the average person, time to head back to the steam days.

I’m on board with steam powered cars, provided no Redditor is ever allowed to own one, I wouldn’t be able to contain my rage at the steampunk cosplayers

Lol it's probably paid for by his employer. Would you get mad if his employer let him get away with stealing toilet paper? It's basically equivalent

Saab tried to work up a modern steam engine in the 70s or 80s I believe. I think Chrysler even might have tried it in some vague pre-Neon project, but obviously that wasn't actually going to come to fruition.

Steam engines only get more practical overtime. Let's say maximum efficiency requires a few minutes of pre-heating in the morning on a winter day. In the 1970s that means you walk out to the car. Now you press a button on your phone, to tell it to be ready in 5.

People with some electrical engineering skills are now buying shitty chinesium BEVs and a bunch of solar panels to use as makeshift home energy storage systems. Because you can get those shitty chinese EVs for like 10k, and they have like 38kWh batteries, much more than what you could get for 10k otherwise.
Gotta love those industrious little fellas.
Anyway, Tesla still stinks and they made cars worse for everyone.
If I could I'd start a company where I'd buy all the old Opel/Vauxhall Calibras and turned them into simple and aerodynamic electric cars with none of that touchscreen bullshittery and the least amount of silicium possible.

Cope and sneed. This nation’s taxpayers subsidized your oil in multiple stupid wars to keep it cheap and to benefit the Saudi royal family (cousins of Soloman).

Lazy design is GM. Minimalism takes effort.

No because the tp isn’t getting subsidised
I guarantee the charge station and the power are subsidised or earning tax credits, if not paid in full, from government program

The dummies that put the chargers in are the ones paying for it .

I never asked them to I never wanted them to and if they hadn’t done anything I bet gas would be cheaper right now

Please explain how not providing any kind of behind the wheel instrument panel is minimalism, oh that’s right, I’m supposed to use the gay as auto pilot that totally works great, I should be having stimulating conversations and choking on my wife’s cock shouldn’t I

I didn’t ask for subsidies either. But I don’t have any say in the matter. It’s up to the Jews as usual

What is missing? Everything you could need is right there. (Model 3 / Y first pic )

The model S and X have traditional dashboards but are full of stupid bullshit nobody understands. (Second pic)

I will almost guarantee those packs are made from recycled cells and probably have about the same tendency for thermal runway as offbrand tool batteries.

Ive got no problem with EV's, but the batteries blowing up a big fuuucking no. Id love to see more out there where normal people can buy them and the look at my tiny dick idiots cant wake you at 3 am racing down your street are less. But in the end musk needs to leave the planet and "accidently" have problems.

Towing range test of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck:
Summary of the test in the video:
The Lightning was able to drive for approximately 100 miles while towing a 6000 lb trailer before running out of charge and their gas truck that was towing an identical trailer was able to go over twice the distance before needing to refuel. The poor range means that the EV truck is not very useful for towing, especially to anywhere that doesn’t have fast chargers available like a lake in cottage country.

Additionally, the electricty was not significantly cheaper than the fuel even with the inflated Biden gas prices. The gas truck used $93.79 worth of fuel and the EV recharge cost $27, but that was for only 66% of the battery and they used 91% of it. Doing the math, it would cost $37 to fill up 91% of the battery and therefore it would have cost $74 to go the same distance as the gas truck. If this test was done last year, it would have been cheaper to tow with the gas truck.

Now for some fun economics because I personally hate it when environmentalists try to convince libertarians that it is a free market policy to tax people out of a modern lifestyle because of grossly exaggerated negative externalities that only seem to occur on things that the environmentalist doesn’t like. EVs don’t pay gas tax to maintain the roads, so we can account for the EV’s real externality of road wear by adding the tax that the gas truck paid, which was $7.02 (Colorado has a 22 cent per gallon tax and the federal government charges a 18.4 cent per gallon tax for a combined total of 40.4 cents per gallon and the gas truck used 17.371 gallons of fuel). This means that the “true” cost of charging the EV with that externality internalized was $81.
