Is Tesla Gay?

I like electric vehicles technology in general, but I really hate everything around it.

Nowadays even petrol vehicles are fucked beyond repair: sensors everywhere, useless obligatory safety features, infotainement, touch controls, etc... and in e-vehicles is even worse.

I'd be happy to own a bare bones electric car without all pointless gimmicks, but I'm afraid I am asking too much, isn't it?

Lol it's probably paid for by his employer. Would you get mad if his employer let him get away with stealing toilet paper? It's basically equivalent

Saab tried to work up a modern steam engine in the 70s or 80s I believe. I think Chrysler even might have tried it in some vague pre-Neon project, but obviously that wasn't actually going to come to fruition.

Steam engines only get more practical overtime. Let's say maximum efficiency requires a few minutes of pre-heating in the morning on a winter day. In the 1970s that means you walk out to the car. Now you press a button on your phone, to tell it to be ready in 5.
back in the 20s they got the time down to 40 seconds, I feel steam engines were too good for the capitalists to make anything off of it, leading to their destruction, i guess the biggest downside would be using up all the freshwater, but presumably thats not the biggest deal in the world if we got away with steam powering everything for a century.

honestly if the good guys won in the 40s, we'd have steam powered cars and zeppelins (which even compared to today have .01% the cost for transportation of every other form)
People with some electrical engineering skills are now buying shitty chinesium BEVs and a bunch of solar panels to use as makeshift home energy storage systems. Because you can get those shitty chinese EVs for like 10k, and they have like 38kWh batteries, much more than what you could get for 10k otherwise.
Gotta love those industrious little fellas.
Anyway, Tesla still stinks and they made cars worse for everyone.
If I could I'd start a company where I'd buy all the old Opel/Vauxhall Calibras and turned them into simple and aerodynamic electric cars with none of that touchscreen bullshittery and the least amount of silicium possible.
this brings up a good point, tesla roofs. haven't heard much critiques of them so to piss someone off enough to tell me why their new version sucks i'll just say...

tesla roofs are the best solar panel roofs money can buy and no one can prove me wrong, every other solar panel company should kill itself in shame. Tesla #1

The roofs are supposedly fine if money is no object and aesthetics are important, but the installation process is so shady and poorly run that even Tesla fanboys recommend against buying it.

See this thread on /r/TeslaMotors (Archive) for an example. The comments on the linked Electrek article are similar as well.

Pretty much every thread on Tesla social media talking about their non-automotive products turns into a "share your horror story" session.

I've had a good time in a Tesla twice:

The first was in Ludicrous Mode at a track in a Model S, the feel of the acceleration was on par with a Ferrari 458 GT Cup race car (probably the only other thing I've been in that's faster to 60), it was insane.

The second was when a friend's dad bought a Model X & we rocked up to a night out in a shit town with it, opened both gullwing doors at the same time and stepped out looking like ballers.

Otherwise they've been disappointing. I've got hands on with a number of Teslas through work and they're superficial cars, the interiors look cool enough but when you get hands on the pieces are flimsy, the leather feels shite, panel gaps were massive and there's just a load of gay gimmicks that Elon Musk forced onto the car because he's an ADHD retard who made it big. Most electric cars of recent years have been like this, I remember the BMW i8 feeling like crap on the inside as well.

Oh yeah, and the Model 3 is some pure bugman shit. The fucking soy latte of cars.

Towing range test of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck:
Summary of the test in the video:
The Lightning was able to drive for approximately 100 miles while towing a 6000 lb trailer before running out of charge and their gas truck that was towing an identical trailer was able to go over twice the distance before needing to refuel. The poor range means that the EV truck is not very useful for towing, especially to anywhere that doesn’t have fast chargers available like a lake in cottage country.

Additionally, the electricty was not significantly cheaper than the fuel even with the inflated Biden gas prices. The gas truck used $93.79 worth of fuel and the EV recharge cost $27, but that was for only 66% of the battery and they used 91% of it. Doing the math, it would cost $37 to fill up 91% of the battery and therefore it would have cost $74 to go the same distance as the gas truck. If this test was done last year, it would have been cheaper to tow with the gas truck.

Now for some fun economics because I personally hate it when environmentalists try to convince libertarians that it is a free market policy to tax people out of a modern lifestyle because of grossly exaggerated negative externalities that only seem to occur on things that the environmentalist doesn’t like. EVs don’t pay gas tax to maintain the roads, so we can account for the EV’s real externality of road wear by adding the tax that the gas truck paid, which was $7.02 (Colorado has a 22 cent per gallon tax and the federal government charges a 18.4 cent per gallon tax for a combined total of 40.4 cents per gallon and the gas truck used 17.371 gallons of fuel). This means that the “true” cost of charging the EV with that externality internalized was $81.
Buying an electric truck is a retard move. I’m not one of those people who gets pissy when I see someone driving a truck that isn’t using it for work every single day, but electric trucks really are just for going to Whole Foods and back.

I think the Cybertruck is DOA because as usual Tesla is late to the party and unless Tesla can dramatically improve their batteries, everyone will know at that point what a joke electric trucks are.

Honestly atm I wont buy an EV due to the shittiness of them and the companies, as more of the "big motor" ones join in, then maybe in a few years, when the batteries are better. The demand is low but the desire is there, without the bulky engine in normal cars, it should always be cheaper, but not with elon cuck.

And now he cancels the twitter deal, i hope his ass enjoys the shitload of lawsuits, possible market manipulation and more lol

I was hoping it would go through just because of the general chaos it would have caused. He is still on the hook for the termination fee. "Business Genius"

He will be on the hook for more, due to his actions he could face market manipulation charges, and twitter can sue for more than the termination fee due to his demands for company information on users.

I would LOVE to see such massive blow back from shareholds across his businesses. They really need to decouple him from each company. He's not a genius; he bought his way into every single company he owns. I understand the need for a clown up front to generate interest and capture venture capital, but he is an obvious autistic twat.

I like the cars and Elon needs to stop tweeting. Space-X, The Boring Company, Solar, Faggy Robot Man, Neuralink, are all shit. Stick to the damn cars and help provide infrastructure for EVs since a transition at 2030 is so utterly laughable.

I think a simple solution to the whole "charging problem" would be to install those diamond batteries made from nuclear waste, they can last a long time.

Im ok with solar and space-x, but he needs to focus and build them better, make it cheaper for use. the fuck has ADD worse than me.

>suing a guy for not being swindled after you broke your own side of a contract and lied about the worth of your company
Real 500 IQ move.

Ah yes, the overpriced car that you don't own even after literally purchasing it has a blatant security flaw? Color me shocked.
(and if they're really trying to push that "own nothing and be happy" BS on cars it shouldn't be surprising)
