Texas General Thread - Where you go to threaten succession and grumble about Californians

I decided to start a Texas General Thread because I think it's one of the top 5 most influential states in the union if not THE most influential states, and it's been very active in modern America generating headlines and money.

Between it's unique self defense laws, it's unique economy, it's unique immigration issues and political situations as well as it's recognizable culture on the global stage I feel that it deserves its own thread.

You can come here to post about things like how YouTubers are ruining Austin, how Californians are running Austin, how Austonians are ruining Austin, and how Austin is ruining Texas.

The big thicket with all its beautiful nature, Houston with all its ugly chicanos, the hills with all its uhh hills, the panhandle which is a myth and much much more!

This is not an articles and happenings thread so just dumping articles about Texas in here is not it's main focus but it's certainly appropriate to talk about Texas appropriate news.

This thread is also for Texas culture! Cowboys, rodeos, kolaches, honkey tonk bars, mechanical bulls, Texan gun culture, chili, beef barbeque, and other such joys. Yes these things exist in other places and sometimes predate the state or country of Texas but also fuck you. Their ours.

You are also obligated to never speak fondly of California or New York in this thread for any reason.

There's many things to say about the lone star state. Many wonderful towns and cities and people and places, as well as many extremely interesting events that happen here. It's one of America great cultural and political hotspots, and here's where you talk about them!

Austin is the prolapsed asshole of Texas.

We should build a wall around Austin.
It's very genuinely a Californian colony in Texas. It's where all the celebrities and northern urbanites move to when they want to enjoy Texan tax laws and business laws without having to leave their home culture of being a fag. Lots of celebrities, internet "influencers, tech people and types like that have specifically moved to Austin.
They even try and ape Portland's bit by trying to campaign to "keep Austin weird!!!"

Their ours.

Found the native Texan.

I like how Texas brags about it's education and shit, but any actual scholars were probably transplants from somewhere else.

Also, "unique" in OP's statement probably means back-asswards.

I lived in Texas for a bit and hated it; why do I have the constant sound of engine exhaust all around me no matter where I go?, I thought. Then I moved to a couple other states (NC, CO) and realized that we're devolving into a third-world shithole everywhere. Cops are useless cunts, people drive noisy cars to make up for their tiny dick, municipalities are shoveling more money to the construction scene, yet roads are still shit, etc.

Texas just happens to be the ne plus ultra of this downward spiral.

I like it in Texas, way better than where I’m originally from. My only real complaint is having to deal with going to Dallas or Houston for work.

I have family all over the state including in big cities like Houston, medium cities like San Marcos, larger towns like Paris Texas and a bunch of small towns in West Texas. If I had to move to a city it definitely wouldn't be one of the huge ones like Houston or Austin and especially not Corpus Christi, that place is a concrete hell.

I'd probably move to San Marcos. Like 70k people, college town, has a very nice easy to walk city center market district, some really nice hills and places to visit. Just a pleasant all around place, although it has a slight stink of wannabee Austin about it but that's probably true of all Texas college towns.

Remember when we all had Texas Instruments graphing calculators and scientific calculators? Now kids just use Wolfram Alpha or other AI tools.

I like texas. The weather sucks 6 months out of the year. But fall and winter are pretty nice.

I like New Braunfels better. But I haven't really explored San Marcos beyond what I35 intersects.
