Ok so now Verizon has sent a "We swear we are going to shut down the text messaging app in four days for realzies this time" message.
Should I believe them?

If you want something norms can actually talk to you on I'll give a shoutout to jmp chat, which is a paid service that can receive calls and SMS texts through XMPP, all they ask is that you don't use it as a burner number for authentication (No idea if this is a legal disclaimer or if they mean it). Good luck finding a good mobile client for XMPP though.

Totally for real! Switch to google whatever app and you will totally get a better "experience"!
Ok now Verizon shut down it's text messaging app for real this time. Fuck that company, it's both bad and incompetent.
It's almost like it's a globalist.....

I know, I used it until the day they actually shut it down. They are pretty much forcing Google messages on their customers now if they want a functional SMS service. Pretty much everyone I know (including a ton of work contacts) is a "normie" so I don't see much of an alternative. You WILL give your data to the GOOGLE!

What sucks is that it was a pretty decent SMS app and, of course, even though it is useless now I still can't uninstall it.

Well, I guess my non tech savvy friends won't be able to reach me anymore. I've heard Proton Mail cares about privacy. Before I had a phone, I let people reach me via email.
