That's a very stupid interpretation of that case, but pretty standard for Thad. That case struck down a law that barred all sex offenders essentially from accessing social media at all and made it a crime to do so. The law was ridiculously broad. The Court also noted: "this opinion should not be interpreted as barring a State from enacting more specific laws than the one at issue."

Thad isn't barred from a statute generally applying to all sex offenders from accessing certain media sites, but by the conditions of his release and any restrictions entered as part of a sentence specific to him. This case simply doesn't apply.

This case doesn't invalidate such restrictions. Nor does it invalidate statutes that do something more tailored to serving a compelling government interest than a simple wholesale ban on all sex offenders from any meaningful Internet access, as in the North Carolina statute this case invalidated.

I think it's because of a recent ruling that the internet is a vital utility now so it's like not letting someone get water from a faucet or something and thus against the law.
