For thanksgiving we have the new Cynic full length. idk how much you guys care, but this is an album I thought would never come. With all the crappy black pill shit happening in current year the existence of new Cynic material is a small bright spot.

RIP Sean Reinert

I impulse clicked this today. I was expecting some caveman-tier occult rock going by the 5th-grader-with-MSpaint-tier cover art, but instead I got some very professional blackened death metal. Worth a listen.

The last couple Clandestine Blaze records have really thrown me for a loop. For twenty five-ish years they've been a dependably okay black metal act, but man this and the prior record have just knocked it out of the park. Where's Miko been hiding this level of riff craft the last quarter century?

Despite my love of black metal I'm usually pretty skeptical of random bm demos. There's a low barrier to entry in this genre and Sturgeon's Law is very much in effect. This suprised me though, it's pretty damn good. They're like a more brutal Emperor with less keyboard.

That Thunderbolt demo is really good. I have the split CD that includes that and this Kataxu demo. Another band that does keyboard BM really well.\

If I had a nickel for every time I saw a band with "War" as a one word song title I'd probably be able to pay off a significant portion of debt.

Also I see Kataxu shares primary song writers with Sunwheel, yet another Polish bm band I enjoy.

Anyone have any interest in doing a Top 10 Albums of 2021? I usually participate in said poll on MA, but I'm about fed up with that site.

I feel like we don't have enough regulars to do a proper poll, but we could share our personal lists and have some discussion at the end of December.

I think the only 2021 album I listened to was Senjutsu and I still wouldn't put it in my top 10

Last I checked they're debating about whether or not it's okay to like the new Exodus album because "Souza is a Trump supporter, and Gary Holt, despite calling himself a liberal, is only liberal by white dude standards" lol
I've seen so many regulars there just stop posting, maybe people are starting to realize it's just the metal neoGAF at this point.

I'm all for people dropping their personal top tens. I haven't been following closely like I used for the last decade and I'd like to start diving deep into current bands again and feel like this would be a good starting point.

I'm not too out of touch since I really enjoyed the last Blood Incantation album and I'm always down for a new Artificial Brain release but I am painfully behind.
