Prepare for attack…
“This will be Havok’s first coast-to-coast tour in over 4 years and the first time we’ll ever play music from our 2020 record, ‘V’. We couldn’t be more excited to share the stage with Toxic Holocaust again, along with I Am and Hammerhedd. It’s rare to see a full tour package that rips this hard, so get your tickets early as some of these shows will sell out. You don’t want to miss this one! See y’all soon…”

i don't listen to meshuggah so i can't say what that sounds like, but if you want to listen to second wave black meal: pure holocaust by immortal, hvis lyset tar oss by burzum, transilvanian hunger by darkthrone, thousand swords by graveland.I'm not (currently) a black metal guy, but there's a song on Meshuggah's latest album (Immutable) that has a song "Black Cathedral," which is apparently an homage to "second-wave black metal."
Anyways, I'm hungering for more of that style from "Black Cathedral". I've been listening to Enslaved (which is apparently "Prog Black Metal") and I like it, but it's not really scratching my current itch. If anyone can recommend an album, I'd appreciate it.

My all-time favorite as far as black metal goes is anything by Summoning (besides their first album). They're more atmospheric than Meahuggah or Enslaved are though, so maybe not what you're looking for. Agalloch is another one in the same vein.I'm not (currently) a black metal guy, but there's a song on Meshuggah's latest album (Immutable) that has a song "Black Cathedral," which is apparently an homage to "second-wave black metal."

Slightly blackened dad prog.Enslaved have change a lot. A LOT. First albums/records are very furious Black Metal (but the lyrics are about viking stuff). They then became more and more technically (starting with the records around the 2000s) and weirder and I don't even know what they are playing now.
Gave it a try, my favorite was Darkthrone. Thanks for the suggestions, was enjoyable. I also did some reading about history of black metal and "second wave" black metal, which was fascinating.i don't listen to meshuggah so i can't say what that sounds like, but if you want to listen to second wave black meal: pure holocaust by immortal, hvis lyset tar oss by burzum, transilvanian hunger by darkthrone, thousand swords by graveland.
I tried out Slugdge and I like it. This lead to me to do a "bands like.." search and find another group, Hath, which I like even more. I'd also highly recommend Slugdge - aside from their latest, they're considered blackened death. 1914 is another decent blacked death band too. I'm more of a death metal guy than black metal, so that may be why I tend towards their stuff.
