That Metal Thread

This is the closest they've ever been to their "old" sound, and it was 2005. For me this is the best track of the album.

I still like Dimmu, but I am not as enraptured as I used to be. 😔

Australia's outback is home to the Aboriginal youth gangs of Wadeye, all of which have taken their name, dress, and overall attitude from the 1980s and '90s golden age of heavy metal. Originally published in 2013 on ‪@Noisey‬, and published in full on Vice Forever for the first time.

I'm the same with a lot of the bands from back then that are still around. Occasionally Cradle will put out a single that makes me take notice ('Crawling King Chaos' was hilarious), but on the whole they're not writing music for me, any more. And that's fine, because I can still listen to that old stuff.

Anyway, I'm listening to Luddite Clone a lot lately:

That whole last riffy section is lovely. Sounds like Breach or Botch or Beecher. You know, the 'B' bands.

Trying to not get MATI but I’ve always found videos/articles like this to be so obvious in the emotional response they’re trying to illicit.

“Hold on dude… these black people are freakin’ EPIC!”

Just discovered these guys a couple days ago and I love it. Prog Death Metal. Very reminiscent of Death but more technical. Even sounds like Arghoslent a bit.

The new Youtube UI for embedded videos is just great. Not only is the volume slider in the upper right corner (???), it also disappears when I try to adjust the volume. It probably has something to do with my heavily modded browser, but still - the old UI worked just fine.

So, new Dimmu single just dropped.

I kept waiting for the song to get good only to find it ended before it even got anywhere. Complete disappointment. There are so many newer symphonic metal bands doing so much more than Dimmu, it's quite sad how far they've fallen out of relevance. Even Cradle of Filth is still releasing bangers, and I'm saying that as someone who will still go for DB's older albums over anything COF released if made to choose. Abrahadabra was the last thing of value that they released, Eonian was symphonic mush and it seems like this new album will just be more of the same.

i tried listening to 'None so Vile' by Cryptopsy b4 but it was too hardcore for me, imma give it another try.
idrfk y i try listening to metal, and almost every single time i try to go for the most hardcore thing that i find to be listenable, (mostly just black metal) ev&oe im tulipcoded or some raisin.
i fw w wtv Acid Bath did with 'Pagan Terrorism Tactics', has to be one of the best metal albums i've ever tried. the screams used in Silencer sounds weird, maybe i just haven't gotten used to it.
'The Tenth Sub Level of Suicide' by Leviathan is okay and i probably will try more stuff from them idk.

Sounds like you hopped on the Acid Bath trend from tiktok and tried to jump right in the deep end. Try Slayer's Show No Mercy, and work your way up to the modern day through death and black metal.
