Could you kind people please recommend some (non-satanic) death metal bands? I've only listened to Death and Bolt Thrower so far.
In recent times I've been mostly listening to atmospheric and symphonic BM, e.g. Elderwind - TheMagicof Nature (Волшебство Живой Природы), CaladanBlood - EchoesofBattle, Drudkh - AutumnAurora, etc. by virtue of the YouTube channel "Black Metal Promotion", so a channel of similar nature but for DM would also be appreciated.
Also, speaking of BM: View attachment 9469276
New Fear Factory: this time around, Dino is the only founding member still in the band. Also gives an acting masterclass in the intro of the music video.
Dino is borderline lolcow in the metal world. He's almost Patrick Tomlinson levels of arrogance and self-congratulatory behavior: Kind of hate that I actually kind of like that other band he did for only 2 albums: Divine Heresy
A blend of technical death metal, groove metal and metalcore all wrapped into one mid 2000s ball of semi-corny awesomeness. That Tommy Vext (powerword: Cummings) dude was also kind of corny, but he's not a bad singer by any means
I believe Vext had his own fair share of drama unrelated to Dino, but somehow Dino is even worse

Speaking of Tommy, he got the last laugh after leaving Bad Wolves it seems. Their guitarist just left the band after the record company released their cover of Jolene without the bands consent. Dolly Parton was supposed to sing on the song with them, but it never happened in time. Now there's only one original member left. Just disband the group at this point.
Yeah but that's why I have to be in a certain mood to listen to listen to something like Pentagram, the vox/lyrics are more upfront than death metal or something. tbh I can find very clearly audible lyrics distracting, depending on what I'm doing.

I think the intro comes from twin peaks or something, pretty fucked subject matter for a metal song tho.
Deathcore no one paid attention to:
Pandora's Dawn
Mix between the two -- Ignominous Incarceration
Float Face Down. Actually mad they didnt make more albums. Reminds me of Rose Funeral's best album but a little better.
The Raven Autarchy. I think its just one guy, but I've listened to his shit more times than I can count. If you like Within the Ruins melodic deathcore, very good.

That was not my assumption. I used to listen to a lot of thrash, and many bands tried to appear satanic as a way of being edgy, which is super gay. I am glad to hear that it's not the case for DM.

I always listened to metal and rap, Somehow there's only a handful of songs from the era when both genres were in the mainstream that combined both genres effectively. Stuck Mojo had two good albums followed by a decent one and their only pure rap song was so bad I though it was a joke at first.
Machine Head's cover of Ice-T - Colors was OK (bonus track from their second album)
Biohazard & Onyx from the movie Judgment Night (very enjoyable crime movie) was a great collab and it still sounds good today. That was when nig culture at least produced some decent music. Contemporary mainstream hip-hop is just baffingly bad. Montone, autotuned, with the same vocal rhythm patterns used over and over, lazy, gutless.
The two are like ice cream and barbecue sauce; both can be great on their own,,but they simply do not go together or else it ends up being gross.
While on the topic of combining various genres together, I've been reliving nostalgia lately. All I have to say is that Genghis TroonTron is so fuckin weird, but also so freaking good.
I loved this band in high school, but actually dissecting their sound, you begin to realize how truly odd the music is in both composition and presentation. First thing that you'll notice is that the band were no doubt popping off at the mathgrind craze at the time. Having mathcore-ish riffs was just the default go-to when you wanted to be heavy back in the early-mid 2000's, think of it like how slams are used today. So many bands in death metal, hardcore even deathcore use slams as the go-to now, but back then it was all about spastic chaotic mathy riffs i.e: early Daughters, The Sawtooth Grin, Ion Dissonance, Bodies in the Gears of the Apparatus, From a Second Story Window and countless other examples that heard The Locust once... that style was just the norm at the time for when you were a [insert word here]core band and pursuing a really heavy sound
...But Genghis Tron decided to step outside the box: a guitarist, a keyboardist and a vocalist/keyboardist. No drummer, no bassist. And all the "drums" are either sampled or are IDM-style beats.
It's the pinnacle of electro-grind.
It's no wonder why these guys look like they work in IT rather than look like band guys.
It's also worth noting that their debut full-length goes even further than simply being a mathcore/cybergrind merger. There is even odd prog / post-metal and dreamy sections. They could've just rode the cybergrind thing out album after album, and it would've worked out for them. But nevertheless they still decided to go even more eccentric with their sound. Looking back now, I realize that I highly commend the fact that these dudes had high ambitions for just being 3 nerds from the eastside of the USA.
In more recent times they've returned with a five-member lineup and are doing some weird artsy prog metal sound that is totally different from their original formula. No screaming or blast beats. I didn't bother to really listen to the 2 newer albums that they've released in the last five years. If anyone checks those out, tell me if any of it is worth hearing
