Turkroach 🇹🇷 brutal death metal rippers, Cenotaph (not to be confused with the mid ass beaner band of the same name), had some controversy yesterday when their vocalist went on a drunk rampage talking all sorts of shit and calling people fags over Facebook. It was essentially lolcow activity, and super embarrassing. But when he sobered up the next day he apologized and said he's checking into rehab. Could post screens but I dont want to incriminate him too much since he's actively made the choice to get the help he needs

First thing that makes you not a lolcow is admitting you have a problem, and doing what you need to do to fix it. So for that I'm happy to say I can still love one of my favorite BDM bands. At least he didnt go the way of Chris Barnes or Patrick Mameli (2 of death metal's actual lolcows).

Give Cenotaph a proper listen, theyre sick.

Please give us a quick rundown of what those guys did to deserve the desirable title of lolcow.
For Patrick Mameli,
here's a medium length list:
  • Insanely ridiculously high ego. repeatedly complained that the band hasn’t received the respect he believes it deserves. In one interview he said he’d repeatedly felt the band’s career was over because he was “misunderstood” and never received the appreciation he feels Pestilence should have. Despite saying this, Pestilence just last year had released one of the worst albums in the entire genre, with some of the most polarizing reviews on Metal Archives seen in the website's history
  • Has complained about “internet soldiers” criticizing his work, while also frequently responding to criticism and discussing what other musicians and fans think of Pestilence ("I dont care what you think" *actually cares what you think all the time*)
  • He actually claimed that Chuck from Death was jealous of them when they toured together
  • Claims that he "invented technical death metal" even though Pestilence has arguably never played in the genre. Pestilence can be considered progressive death metal with their album Spheres, but that's a different thing than tech death.
Basically he's just an old Dutch man that yells at clouds on the internet day and night.

As for Chris Barnes, I'm actually quite surprised you don't know anything about how he's worthy of lolcow status. All you need to do is the smallest research or even be a fan of death metal to be aware what a joke he is. But to keep it short I'll simply link this Facebook meme page

...And that's essentially all you need to know about Patrick Tomlinson Mameli and Chris Chan Barnes

Thanks for the reply. I don't care much about metal news and gossip. I just listen to the music and go to concerts. Probably the only two musicians I can name off the top of my head that have always been ridiculed are David Vincent and Varg Vikernes. I think I may have heard some people make fun of Six Feet Under (Barnes's band) a long time ago, but that's it.

An album of re-recorded songs is insulting enough, because it's just a cash grab. An AI cover is spitting in your face after you've already been slapped. Changing it just invited more ridicule, as it should have.

also THIS is the best vemon song, faggots.

Truth, nobody will say it but venom should've ended the first time cronos left. Not that they were terrible after the 80's, but more that it lost its artistic value the more they released music. On that topic what are some other bands that should've quit while they were ahead?
Shining were very good for a mid 00's DSBM band, but ran its course after the initial wave.
Not to mention the other Shining (NOR) that started off as decent "avant-garde" metal, but decided they wanted festy pussy in the late 10's
Obvious one but In flames should've ended by the end of the 90's, or at least after reroute to remain.

Colony and Whoracle were both pretty good. Reroute to Remain was when the suck started to seep in, but it wasn't a terrible album. After that, though, their dropoff was fast and steep. I haven't listened to anything they've done since but I guess they turned into some dickless alt-rock act and that's really a shame. I recall seeing a few of their recent album covers and thinking it looked like the kind of shit that would have been hawked at Hot Topic right before they shed the mallgoth aesthetic completely.

Welp, guess this is gonna be the cryptopsy setlist for the rest of their tenure. SNCA and 2 none so vile songs. 3 if we're lucky. Maybe Once in a blue moon, they'll play a blasphemy made flesh song. Once was not, out the window, DiSalvo era, the best one in my objective opinion, nada. even the decent self titled LP or book of suffering EPs? not happening. they have a higher chance playing "worship your demons" at this point.

If you haven't listened to these bangers yet, your missing out. You listen to these, none so vile will be your third favorite album.

Yeah because they're just going to end a very popular / very successful band just cuz the main guy left. All that very profitable ticket live ticket sales and future albums that they can capitalize on from the name alone. Just fuck all that

Disney should've ended after Walt Disney died. it makes sense right

This album is great. But the vocals are dogshit. Can't beleive this twit ever was in the band at any point. Where Lord Worm was arguably doing something genuinely extreme with his voice, even artful. This moron sounds like he's having a stroke while trying to replicate his style.

Not that I care about vocals that much, so I'm not saying this from that standpoint alone: but the album is definitely not among their best. None So Vile is absolutely far better than this

Also i know i double posted idc. Eat me

The band had to crunch studio time, so Mike had to record ALL vocals on "Beg" with a fucking cold. this fact is most obvious on the "back to the worms" re-recording. Doesn't change the instrumentals, though. its a crime that we only got the Jon/Alex guitar duo on ONE album (Once was Not track 1 doesn't count).

I probably should've been a bit clearer, totally fine for a band to continue doing live shows and all that, but just quit releasing "new" material. Many bands have done this (bolt thrower), and many bands don't need to do this even after their prime (iron maiden).
