Ah yes, rape is a justifiable cause for murdering a baby. How about only for rape and incest, a compromise perhaps?
lol calm downAh yes, rape is a justifiable cause for murdering a baby.
And incest? Besides the fact you could probably count the number of babies from that on a single hand, it's also the height of irony to claim to be in favor of protecting babies from defects and not mention sterilizing anyone with passable genetic defects or forcing them to get abortions. On that note, I support sterilizing anyone supporting abortions, can't let that disease of an ideology pass down.
So you would also support murdering infants I assume. Because that same line of reasoning applies just as well to them. Do you remember being a few months old lying in your crib screaming for mommy? No and neither do I or anyone else. That's because we hadn't developed consciousness yet. So I guess we weren't individuals therefore it would be cool if mommy wanted to kill us at that state?I'm kind of curious to see if a view I have on abortion is an unusual one. On the overall debate, I am pro-choice but it's one of the more conflicted thing I am on the ethical end - lots of (non-religious) pro-life positions are pretty on point in the general topics of discussion and the arguments against them are often coming from a very hypocritical position when looking at other opinions pro-choice types are likely to have.
I wanted to clarify that to get to where I think my position differs - I feel like abortion is acceptable not because the fetus isn't a life, but because the fetus has not developed any individuality to have any kind of perspective and therefore it is indifferent to the concepts of life and death. In essence, nothing is being taken from it because everything about the human experience is based on well... experience. I see it as killing a living being, but not the same as killing an individual.
Of course it hasn't, neither has a newborn, and neither of them would have the chance if killed.I'm kind of curious to see if a view I have on abortion is an unusual one. All of this is irrelevant. I don't care if people have an abortion on day one or as the kid is halfway out of the vagina, I don't care if the fucker can feel pain or not, and I don't care if women die because we restrict access to abortion. The facts are as follows: we are dealing with the killing of a human being. Now, whether or not that being has any intrinsic value is something that we cannot prove scientifically. However it would seem that most people agree that this entity possesses some moral worth. After all, why have any abortion restrictions at all if this is essentially just a very late stage contraceptive? Most Americans are in favor of some abortion restrictions be they on the timeframe or the reasoning behind it. However if this is a human being, which I would argue it is and it seems that most people would agree, then any abortion for any purpose other than perhaps as a last resort to save the life of the mother is equivalent to homicide. Either the fetus, clump of cells, baby, whatever the fuck we're calling it has intrinsic value or it does not. Why most people want abortion to be allowed only under certain circumstances is because they believe that the action is wrong but realize what an absolute headache a world without abortion would be. You know what that would entail? A world that actually empowers women. One where maternity leave is sufficient, a pregnancy doesn't end your academic career, and where the poorest of the poor are cared for. It's much easier to keep the status quo and since the issue is our of sight and out of mind people condone the slaughter of innocents. In conclusion, abortion is murder and maybe if we tried to build a society where women wouldn't feel pressured into getting abortions (outside of perhaps life threatening instances) then we wouldn't have this problem. People wouldn't care about the issue because abortion would be unnecessary and those who got abortions would be rightfully decried as monstrous murderers. But regardless, abortion should be banned under all circumstances except in cases where the mother's life is clearly in danger and those who procure and/or preform an abortion should be punished with the harshest sentence the law allows for; be that the death penalty or ideally life in prison as capital punishment, like abortion, is pointless killing.

I do. Granted, not enough to do anything about it besides peacefully protest. God have mercy if my child was ever on the line though.Who cares?
You can't screech passionately for your side, then play aloof and apathetic when addressing opposition just because you can't articulate a coherent rebuttal.Who cares?

These are fundie influenced American right wingers. The main priority for them is making sure women are appropriately punished for having sex.Okay but really... why defend dysgenics as a right winger?
I transcend the left and right dichotomy. Economically I am generally left wing and socially I am generally right wing. But to answer more directly, it's the right thing to do. It is a tragedy that people with down syndrome and the like exist. But it is an even bigger tragedy for us to resort to genocide to tackle the problem. At the end of the day these are people we are talking about. People with rights, aspirations, fears, and feelings just like the rest of us. They deserve our respect and our support, not to be thrown away by us because they are inconvenient. It is indeed hard for the strong to act justly towards the weak, but acting justly always has its rewards.Okay but really... why defend dysgenics as a right winger?
Enjoy the list you're surely on.Ok pedo

Also @Freya thank you for the compliment but in this situation defending the weak is the main priority. Punishing women who transgress moral norms is just an added bonus.
