Reddit is having meltdowns over Texas now banning abortions 6 weeks after conception.

One of the suggestions is to have a "sex strike" and for all women to stop having sex until this is changed.

I'm sure the Texans who pushed for this will be quaking in their boots at the thought of women not having sex unless they want a child.

On the flipside to that, it's also insane to me that many on the pro life crowd also want to restrict birth control, that makes zero sense, it's a good thing that technology has advanced enough to the point that an unwanted pregnancy can be less of an occurrence, why would you not want to give people more power to prevent having to make that hard decision in the first place?

Yeah, it's because the pro-life movement is generally lead by the evangelicals and catholics. They don't want people fucking unless it's for procreation, so thus, birth control and abortion are bad. They don't give a shit about stopping abortion or they'd be pushing for access to birth control. They don't give a shit about the baby or they'd be pushing for greater access to affordable healthcare and welfare programs to help the poor single mothers that can't afford a baby.

They just want to punish women for having sex, so they removed their body autonomy.

I know Bill Clinton is a retard, but he was right when he said "Keep abortion safe, legal and rare"

I'm against abortion but don't get me wrong: I'm all for killing babies. It's the whole "giving women bodily autonomy" thing that I think we, as a society, should be taking no part in.
Pretty sure I and everyone else has made this joke 100 times before, but I'm sure everything in this thread has already been said a million times.

I'm not aware of catholics or evangelicals being against sex if it's not for procreation. The argument I've heard is that procreation is a natural thing and you have to be open to the possibility of it, thus no contraceptives. If you fuck and it doesn't happen that's fine too, you just can't actively block procreation from happening as that would be "unnatural."

Yeah. What Catholics believe is that sex has to be "open to life". It's actually okay to use the rhythm method because that still leaves sex open to life, but you can't use contraceptives that artificially stop a pregnancy happening.

On a seperate note, Texas limits abortions, at least for the time being, to at about 6 weeks. Precise cutoff is whether there is a heartbeat or not.

I've already seen the absolute shitshow of media and redditors complaining about this. Abortion isn't even illegal. Is it really that important to wait until the kid is big enough that it has to be cut up and removed body part by body part from the womb?

So women are not "forced" to have kids as people continually claim in this threat. Android can get her abortion if any of her lesbian friends manage to impregnate her.

What's the big deal with getting one early rather than late?

People THERE HAS BEEN NO "RULING" BY THE SUPREME COURT!!!

All that happened is the court declined a request to rule on the constitutionality of the Texas law IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT WAS PASSED (these requests are almost never granted) rather than requiring the challengers to the law to go through the regular process of getting a ruling in a federal district court, then appealing to a circuit court, then appealing that court's ruling to the Supreme Court--which you can rest assured will happen. The court has expressed NO OPINION let alone issued any rulings or judgments regarding the validity fo the Texas law. The court was VERY EXPLICIT about this! The law (sorry to say) will almost certainly be overturned by the Supreme Court when it does get the case in due course. But of course, the left (including dem congressmen and liberal commentators who know this) is trying to whip up more mass hysteria to aid their "pack the courts" scheme.

Stop letting yourself get played!

You'd think the demographic time bombs that Western countries (and now China) are sitting on (which have prompted Western leaders to import a bunch of illiterate third world savages in order to prevent their inverted population pyramids from crushing their economies into oblivion) would count as a pretty strong points against birth control/abortion. China is scrambling to promote births right now; I think something like 80% of young mothers there are stay at home moms and they're aiming to reverse birth restriction policies over the next few years to encourage this even further. It's not surprising that the Western world is shitting the bed by comparison; 2,000 years of Europeans fighting like hell through gruesome poverty and war to extend their respective bloodlines has ended in a people having a conniption at the prospect of raising their own children in the wealthiest countries in the world. They'd apparently rather nonchalantly murder their own flesh and blood, and then be groped/stabbed by an illiterate goat herder while being taxed to death to support his family. When people just don't care about their collective survival and the proliferation of their people/culture because they see it as inconvenient, they can't really blame anyone else when they're set to be eclipsed by a society which they had once effortlessly outcompeted, driving it from prosperity into a complete collapse.

The problem is that most pregnant women don't even know they're pregnant by 6 weeks.

Why should they have to take a pregnancy test every few weeks if they're doing everything right? That seems like a stupid thing to enforce on women

Just came by to say I’ve been a staunch pro-life advocate my entire life and only viewed abortion as somewhat acceptable in situations where the woman did not consent to sex.
however I’ve realized that if abortion is made illegal, there will be more niggers running around, and that fucking sucks.
so I sort of don’t know how to resolve this conflict. Any philosophers know the answer?
