I've gotten into terrible debates about how pre-Christian Europe isn't the Aryan wonderland a lot of people seem to believe it was. A lot of their worldview is built on the false narrative that Vikings were completely awesome, when in real life, they would kidnap and rape nuns to death unless they willingly disfigured themselves first.

You don't know how edgelord people can be. When I went to visit my ex's house for the first time, on the mantlepiece there was one of those book-open type photo standies. On the left side was a photo of the ex, age 8, on the right was a photo of Hitler. And no, it didn't turn out to be some bad taste joke.

It deeply saddens me the internet wasn't available in 1980, I would have LOVED to have seen the ramblings of those who thought Jimmy Carter was a traitor for giving the Panama Canal back to ... Panama..... thereby compromising the entire security of the western world! Don't be surprised if there's a T-72 in your driveway tomorrow!!!!!

I mean, you could probably just word-swap "terrorist" with "communist" and get a good idea, but there just wouldn't be the same period flavor.... alas.
