I've seen lots of human/gijinka fanart depicting him as black, so I wouldn't be surprised if there are people who think he's black. In general, many purple characters (or non-human characters that have or wear something purple) are perceived as black by fans. I've seen human/gijinka fanart of Uzi Doorman depicted as black.
