Dunno if this belongs in thr movie part of general but it's Chris related so whatever.
So for those who don't know this was pretty much the first movie Chris ever watched or some shit and it's really bad and really dull, Borb probably found it in the bargain bin.
Here is the movie, I can't get through the credits but I'm digging the Superman rip-off music

It's pretty bad, discuss.

I am watching it. I can't help, but notice the pampering of the Rabbit and how it can relate to Chris being pampered and told he is special and all that.

At the time Chris saw this movie, he wasn't pampered; he was plopped down in front of the TV with bargain-bin movies as his babysitter while his parents went out. It wasn't until the Greene County Shake-Up that Bob 'n' Barb began keeping him sated.

Also, Kenneth Mars, what were you thinking?

considering how very smooth the animation is, especially for its time period, I shudder to think of how much time, paper, acetate, and paint went into this almost non-exsistent thing.

I was very sorry to learn of The American Rabbit's death this summer. Another grim reminder of the long term health risks of smoking and unprotected sodomy.

That's the same thing I thought, I haven't finished watching this shit yet, but the furry in me says best character is the wolf with the Nazi helmet. They should have made and R rated Fritz the Cat style movie about the biker gang. No better yet, Frank Miller's American Rabbit, "When I start RUNNING, I become a GOD!!" In the end his girlfriend gets made into stew, so he murders the gang members with a sharpened Carrot, then says, "FOR America, I HAVE purged the EVIL, America, YOUR welcome."

I wonder if a troll ever told Chris that if he loved "The American Rabbit" that he would love "Watership Down"

Then introduce him to "Plague Dogs"....and then blow his mind with "Ninja Scroll" and "Wicked City"....and so on...
Don't stop upping the ante until he habitually tells people his favorite film is "Urotsukidōji : Legend of the Overfiend"

though "MD Geist II: Death Force" is probably more his speed.

It kind of reminds of the Rankin-Bass cartoons with the really bored voice acting. And what the hell is going on with the rabbits' ears.
If I can borrow a line from MST3K: "Music provided by my little brother's Casio!" Speaking of MST3K, I think Rifftrax could go to town on this.

I kind of want to liveblog this but- I can't believe I'm saying this- I want to avoid spoiling it for anyone on here.

Interesting trivia, "Adventures of the American Rabbit was based upon the poster character of the same name created by pop artist Stewart Moskowitz. The artist's characters were adopted as the mascots for many major Japanese companies, hence the film's backing by Japanese investors"

Heres a review, http://articles.latimes.com/1986-05-16/ ... ting-cards

Brother, if only the American Rabbit was a Real American Rabbit and preached the demandments of Hulkamania: Training, saying your prayers and eating your vitamins. Chris would have turned out differently. He could've been so much more.

I love this review:

I once knew an anthropologist who argued that all religion was essentially an attempt to anthropomorphize natural phenomena so that they are understandable and, moreover, manageable. Some things, apparently, resist anthropomorphization and as a result can be neither understood nor managed; I cannot, for the life of me, attribute any distinctly human characteristics to the people who made The Adventures of the American Rabbit. Any human being, no matter how mentally incapacitated, would be cognitively developed enough (by the very fact of their humanity) to never produce a film like this. Perhaps it is the work of amoebas.
