Until Null spoke about it on the podcast I was unaware that there were positive and negative (and even more than 1 point/sticker) values assigned to each of the stickers, I actually thought it was just +1 regardless because it was just interaction. I sincerely thought they were just a way to quickly and easily tell someone they were being a particular flavor of autistic.

MY BANANA STICKERSSSSSSSS

On a serious note I'd like to posit that if people are so neurotic about getting negrated for being retarded in a thread they were probably going to end up verbally bullied regardless of stickers and move to DMs/Discord anyway. I don't think we'll lose valuable content from people who are obsessed with their ratings

Oh. Well this explains why notifs weren't popping up every five goddamn seconds letting you know every time someone sperged about a post you made. Personally, I rather like the change.

It would be easy enough to simply let users turn them off if they wanted. I'm pretty sure that was a feature already.

Personally the website feels like there is less activity without stickers notifications (regardless of the actual level of activity).
I've used to jump to my post, read whatever retardation I've come up last time and then jump to the new posts. So a sort of indication of which threads people read and quick jump back to recall what was the discussion about last time I've interacted with the topic.

Removing stickers is the perfect way for a group of ideologues to hijack the site and turn it into some shit like Something Awful.

Without a pile of trashcans getting dumped on bad ideas people will begin to assume others approve of them if a dedicated group were to just keep repeating them...

Kinda like a certain group of people love to do about A&N. (The ones claiming A&N was mad about stickers / derailing threads were in fact the ones mad about stickers and derailing threads.)
This. And it causes a hugbox mentality anyway. The funniest was "genuine psychological damage" that Null said. Like reactions to a post? That's significant psychological damage. He says as he runs a site full of threads about people, at least some of which, probably cause people some significant stress and/or psychological damage. If a sticker react is damaging I can't imagine what a whole thread devoted to your faggotry would do. I'm guessing it's just favoritism. Someone Null likes was involved and that was their reason. Otherwise if he cared about psychological damage that much where even a sticker is too far, then all these fucking threads sure would be and there would be no site left. It's obvious cope and ad hoc justifications.

It will be eternally funny to me this entire thing started because people got bullied by internet stickers and the solution to it somehow bullied a different subset of people using those internet stickers to mark their territory.

Speaking of. Can you turn around I need to :like:
