The Arrested Development thread

In an interview, Jason Bateman said that he thinks Michael is probably the most craziest of the family.

He is for sure. Everyone says "oh but he's trying to keep the family together". Any sane man with a child would avoid the Bluth family like a plague. But Michael needs to solve their problems a la" The One Where Michael Leaves".

Bumping this thread because season 5 finally got released; it's going to have a total of 16 episodes but there are currently 8 episodes up. I have yet to see it for myself so I can't really comment at the moment.

I just spent the past few hours watching season 5 pt.1. It was pretty great with interesting follow ups to plotlines

It is amazing how we still have no resolution as to where Lucile 2 is and it is becoming more and more plain that Michael likely killed her. I also love Maybe as an old Jewish lady, it made my day. The payoff with the reason for the Oscar-George switch made perfect sense and built up on a good joke of going to a length that Gangie would not stoop to (she did). To me, it feels that we finally have the show back to its peak, which also means peak frustration that the characters still suffer arrested development, at least to me that is.

To me it seems a little obvious that Michael is the murderer but as he was wearing the wrong shoes for him m to be the thing (I feel kind of ashamed for spending the the me to check), and there was the staircase (crimescene) at the model home and that bloodtrail leading up to the banana stand where Michael got a shirt from.

Wlso, I am loving Tobias's new son. He's the best but he does currently feel like set dressing to Tobias's character flaw of projecting his dreams into others. Hopefully he progresses but with this shoe, like that's gonna happen.

Tony's assumed death is also kind of sad. He was great for GOB

Oh wow, I had no idea! I know what I’ll be binge-watching today.

Just finished it, thoughts in spoilers.

* I have to be honest, I felt it was kind of underwhelming. But who knows, I gave season 4 a chance and it surprised me so maybe the final punchlines will pay off here too.
* The Lindsay arc seems to be wasted potential, in hindsight it was hilarious how she became a female Trump last season but here she's back to Lucille's punching bag. Timeline is all over the place too. Isn't this still suppose to be 2013-2014?
* Oh fuck, did Tony Wonder just die?

Highlights:
* Self-Defense from your family.
* Buster mistaking Ron Howard for a skinhead.
* M(exican) R(omney) F(amily). Now strum!
* Oscar breaking Buster out of the prison float.

I agree with your highlights. You should remember that this was just the first half of the series and that Lindsay is going to be in another episode of two (she's in 5 and I think she only appeared in three or four so far). If she feels weak now, there's still an episode or two and a potential movie. What's the worst that could happen?

I enjoyed the original 3 seasons, although the Rita arc felt a little weak to me.

Season 4 was weird. Firstly, everyone was older, obviously, which made a big difference for George Michael and Maebe. I also thought they dumbed down the Michael character to make George Michael the sane one, at least to a degree. The Lindsay story was dumb, and Rebel grated on me the entire time (What the fuck is with that laugh?)

Season 5 seems like more of the same of season 4. Except with swearing now? Weird to start that on season 5, especially since they had a pretty good thing going with the bleeps(Really, the insane rant Buster went on about Lucille was hilarious because of the bleeps).

I guess.... to use a TVTropes term, it feels like it's been Flanderized. I think... To be honest I was never 100% clear on what exactly that means.
