I'm reminded of when my dad and I argued about whether gays should be allowed to marry. He is conservative and of course argued the typical slippery-slope "if we let gays marry, they're going to campaign to legally fuck children." That kinda shit you hear from people who grew up in the baby-boomer era.

Now, my dad was obviously wrong about this seeing as no NAMBLA actually exists in the US. However, I think I was wrong too. I think that the slippery slope theory should have been "if we give gays more rights, we're going to get a bunch of people clamoring for rights for their sexuality that is either completely uncommon and not persecuted or needs five-hundred different words from the dictionary to describe it."

I mean it's a lot less worse than what old, homophobic conservatives predicted, but I do think the recent change in attitudes towards LGBT issues contributed to the rise of groups like these.

Not saying that we should have continued to be homophobic as a society; that's much worse. But it's clear there are quite a few groups that want to ride the coattails of LGBT activism at its most successful.

I mean the worst grievance an asexual can suffer is being made fun of for being a virgin. While I don't condone insulting people for not having sex, it's something literally every straight person has had happen to them at some point in their life too. Whether middle school, high school or later on the internet or something.

You know what happens when someone calls you a virgin? Nothing happens. You don't get stabbed, you don't get beaten, you don't get thrown in prison and you don't get called an abomination to god. You just get a mildly mean name hurled at you and it's done.

SO FRUSTRATING!!!" and that was it.... if you dug deep enough, you'd eventually find that what they were so wound up about was they saw two people, of opposite gender, holding hands in public..... or kissing on TV, it was like, anti-love-shy. I think when they talk how asexuals can still enjoy sex, it's just the distinction between having a desire and a drive and the mechanical components of sexual pleasure - an asexual can regularly jerk off and find it fun, he just doesn't have an intristic need for it. Much like there's no magic barrier preventing a homosexual man from putting his dick in a vagina.

I think the only other mild inconvience for asexuals is people telling them that asexuality doesn't exsist. Like "you just haven't found the right person yet"

Let me just say that I'm so glad this thread exists. The asexual community has to be one of the more insufferable communities in the SJW sphere in my opinion. Granted, I do think Asexuality is a real thing but I think it's really rare and a lot of people who consider themselves "asexuals" are rather confused teenagers/young adults who feel like who can't keep up with society's hypersexual ways but fail to realize that not wanting to bang people all the time or going through periods of celibacy is actually normal. I also feel like the emphasis on identity politics in SJWs communities makes people feel like they're boring or not unique enough, so a lot of times, they end up latching onto the asexual identity without realizing what it truly means.

I do think as they get older and when this whole obsession with identity politics fades, most will grow out of it and later laugh at their younger selves for being dumbasses. Some will still remain crazy probably though.

@TheMightyMonarch The only one more caustic than it I've come across is the child-free "movement", same thing, a hugbox to call anyone who'd DARE even THINK about having a kid as nothing but a stupid, brainwashed "Breeder" who's only diluting the gene pool with their mongoloid offspring and making it harder for True Intellectuals (tm) like the child-free to get ahead in life!!! That place was beyond just smug, it was downright SCARY.

And that's another reason I left, I'm almost 40...... I don't have the time or interest to play the whole "FIGHT OPPRESSION!!!!!!" game, at least not 1st world "oppression" which is basically "Why don't they make tv shows with characters just like me in them? I'm a person too you know! Must be because the establishment secretly HATES me!"

Diversity and individuality are great, but man, GET OVER YOURSELF. The world wouldn't stop turning if you fell off it.
