The Beer Thread

I picked up a case of Rhinelander in bottles for 8 bucks. It’s pretty good for a lager, but you may have to go to Wisconsin to pick it up. They also make shorties which are 7oz bottles but it’s more expensive.

7 oz are great especially if they have a deposit. They're mildly awkward to clean up but they're perfect to inhale in one chug while doing something else.

Is there any trick to helping beer to keep in the fridge? I've got two Corona Familiars left and there's a non-zero chance these are literally the last two Corona Familiars I'll ever drink since they stopped brewing. A major component to why they're good compared to normal Corona is the high turnover so I know they can't last too long, but I'm curious what my options are.

My top brands I go for if I am just in a normal type of bar:
Heiniken
Alexander Keef
Stella
Sleeman

IPA's are a dime a dozen, but keefs would be the only one that I can tolerate, and that's only because the hoppiness is very minimal. I usually go for pilsners or heavier beers, darker the beer the better in my mind. Stouts are great, Guinness is also delicious, this lock down is making me miss the good old days laughing with friends in the good old neighborhood pub. Been almost a month since all the bars closed where I'm at, fucking depressing.

What’s a good Mexican beer to start with. I know they are mostly lagers and no Corona extra that shit sucks if I’m paying import prices.

Lately I've been drinking a lot of Lagunitas Pils. Decently priced for a 12pack and has the snappy lemongrass-y saaz hop bite that a Czech style Pils should.

Fair State also makes an excellent Pilsner.

So recently I had a brewery rep explain to me that they have trouble selling Americans on any beer variety that implies bitterness in the name (see: ESB). They've created an ESB but they label it as an ESP (extra special pale) for this reason. I kind of gave him a quizzical look and asked him what he thought about the extreme popularity of super-bitter IPAs (see: Surly Furious), and he just sort of shrugged.

I like Romanian beer from Timiș and anything but IPAs, Budweiser, or Coors. Typically I like to drink wine or Eastern European moonshine (palinka is the shit, rakija too).

NEW BEER TIME (well, the beer isn't new but it is to me)

What did they do? Did they piss in the beer or something?

I don't really clearly remember. Maybe something about labelling it as "from Japan" but not clarifying "the recipe is from Japan but it's brewed in the USA'" or something similarly stupid and nitpicky.
I remember it wasn't yucky like bugs or jizz.
