Let me try to change your mind. While not as intelligent as corvids, gulls are still very intelligent birds. They are resourceful and cunning. They are the least specialized of the seabirds, which means they are the jack of all trades. They are proficient at flying, swimming, and running on land. They have been recorded utilizing almost every known method of food procurement and are amazingly opportunistic and adaptable. Most seabirds have one method of getting one type of food, but gulls can really do it all. They mate for life and can live into their 30s. Pairs are fiercely protective of their chicks and continue to feed and teach them for up to six months after fledging. Just like corvids, gulls are similar to humans in many ways, and I think that familiarity unfortunately tends to breed contempt. There's a lot to appreciate, admire, and relate to when you really get to know them.
