Damn, really? I fall for them every single time too.
Well, in the shoebill one: look how it changes between every shot. The inconsistent size is another big problem, but the biggest issue is that AI baby birds look too much like the parents. Like, lil shoebills are downright normal, but the AI gives you the adult ones with baby proportions.

I have been spotting more and more Cardinals male and female.

I have two bluebird pairs living in my back yard.

I hope they all stay. Last year one of the males chased the other one off. The males get very territorial in late winter/early spring. They pick out a nesting spot in their territory and bring their mate to see it. If it meets with her approval they start building their nest.

More poor quality photography of my back yard birds

A whole flock of these birds with little black masks showed up one day. New visitors that I had never seen before.
They were/are Cedar Waxwings.

Snow’s out, rain’s in, sidewalk defecators out in force. Picture quality low due to being taken on a potato.

capercaillie, good eatin´
I love these dinguses. They're called глухарь, or Gloo-har in Russian. They can be a bit territorial during courtship, and make little clicking noises and grunts to intimidate rivals.
This is just an excuse to post this video of a Russian man play fighting with one after it comes up to their car.
