The Boys - An Amazon Prime adaptation of the Ennis comic series

They did a great job of writing the World's Smartest Nigger, didn't they?
They literally just made her your typical dipshit rich asshole who set the world on fire, then hid in their bunkers as it burned.

Literally, that is the smartest person they can make. Which makes no fucking sense. It's so stupid that it hurts.

Here's a few examples of what could have been smarter plans:

A) SUPER-EARTH: Sage works with Homelander to propagate Compound V to loyal followers, streamlining the formula and making it easier to give to normal humans who have grown up. The final plan is to create an entire planet where humanity uses Compound V to evolve as a species, the only thing Homelander would ask for in exchange for the Compound V is loyalty. Meanwhile, Soldier Boy and the new Black Noir form a shadow kill team meant to take out any supe or group that goes against the new regime. Homelander becomes the president of "Super Earth" while his pop takes out any supe who looks at him funny.

With the entire human population evolved into superheroes, they will obviously look to the strongest heroes for leadership, that being Homelander and his pop. Homelander serves as the face of Super-Earth, Soldier Boy serves as its fist. Homelander wears the smile and the endearing personality, Soldier Boy goes for the jugular and gets rid of anything that can be considered a threat.

That way, Butcher cannot release the virus without accidentally killing off the entire human race.

B) CHRISTIAN EMPIRE: Instead of Homelander claiming to be God, have him instead say that he is anointed by God, and that God told him to save America. He has the current president step down and he takes over, goes full Palpatine and reorganizes America into a Christian Empire with himself as Emperor. That way, he still keeps his religious base, and he enforces the Faith as a way to unite the country; creating a new national ethic based on faith, hope, and love.

Homelander is anointed as Emperor John the First, taking the name after the Apostle and after his old self. He establishes a new Imperial state with all sorts of positions for people to fill in, from military, to manufacturing, to bureaucratic, and Homelander uses it as a make-work project to give people jobs and a way to make money, ensuring that the citizens will be loyal to their emperor because he signs their paycheck. Tons of millennials and Gen Z people who have no job prospects sign up, and as a result, you have a large, powerful government, united by faith, and staffed with people loyal to the crown, all under Homelander's control.

That way, Butcher cannot release the virus without even the normies of the world wanting to lynch him, since a lot of them, especially the young, will be loyal to Emperor John/Homelander because he gave them a job that can provide for a family.

C) VOUGHT CORPORATE STATE: As opposed to Super Earth or a religious empire, Homelander and Vought turn America and the world into a corporate state, a la Japan and South Korea. With the president under their control, they neuter the state to the point where it no longer can hamper corporate operations and monopolies, allowing rich families from all over the country and the globe to assert their power. The supes work with oligarchs and business leaders across the globe to create a free trade zone that eventually encompasses the entire planet.

You have American business leaders sharing a bunk with Japanese Zaibatsus, Korean Chaebols, Russian oligarchs, British and Spanish royals, Chinese Communist Party heads, Arab Emirs, and Vought under Homelander and Sage work with them to ensure a new economic free zone where business is unimpeded by things like laws and regulations. These rich folk bring their nations' military might to add to the superheroes' strength, and together, they go off to neuter any government that tries to stop them.

Homelander brings back Stan Edgar and decides to work with him on this, creating a world where corporations cannot be stopped, where they have a private army of superheroes a la the Pinkertons, enforcing corporate edicts like pulling eminent domain on some squatters to build a mall where their shacks are, or putting down protesters stopping corporations from drilling for oil or building new nuclear reactors. Profit comes first, and while some people object to the new world, the amount of jobs created by corporate expansion offsets the naysayers, giving younger people a chance to get a job that can pay for a family.

The result is a Bladerunner-esque cyberpunk world where corporations are the new government, and where Supes retain their celebrity status as it was in Season 1, where they sell action figures, video games, movies, and all sorts of merchandise for all the Supes, like Soldier Boy selling men's deodorant, Firecracker selling women's underwear, Sage selling school gear, or the Deep selling specialized sushi. And you have prospective candidates for Supes going through a new Godolkin school, where they are injected with Compound V, and if they succeed and become bigshot heroes, they can also become rich; it becomes the new American Dream, for a poor person to work hard, become a superhero, and make their own brand.

Each of the top Supes become business leaders, and they all take after Stan Edgar in managing their brands and contracts. Corporate control of the media and the constant materialist advertising keep the people in a state of materialistic fulfillment similar to the lotus eaters, where they rush to buy the next product, and they spend whatever meager wages they earn on the next shiny boondoggle to come out of Vought's asshole.

Of course, with big pharma corporations in on their gig, they get a sample of Butcher's virus from one of the supes it killed, and they quickly create an antidote that makes it useless.

There. Three plans that are way smarter than the shit they wrote for Sage.

Other people here didn't like this episode but honestly I really really did. The supe cast is infinitely more charismatic than kimiko, mm, frenchie and hughie. Any episode that has us spend time away from them is a W by default.

It wasn't a bad episode at all but the issue is there's only 3 left after it.

Weird place to put an "anthology" episode that only really had any meaningful plot development in the last 20 minutes or so.

He's a schizophrenic racist, sure, but he's also the only guy who can put aside his ideological issues and racial biases for the sake of doing the right thing
Ozymandias vs Rorschach is just paternalistic consequentialism vs extreme moral absolutism/a religious code of honour.

Ozymandias kills millions of innocent people to prevent a nuclear war that would kill everyone, on the reasoning it's the ends not the means that are important, he has to save the world. Rorshach exposes Ozymandias on the basis that it's the means not the ends that are important, and nobody has the right to justify killing millions of innocent people and they cannot escape justice for doing it... because it's wrong. Even if it results in everyone else dying.

Someone like Peter Thiel is Ozymandias ("democracy and freedom are incompatible", even if he thinks Ozymandias is one of his many Antichrists). Rorschach is maybe more like Cato the Younger/Antigone/Alexander Solzhenitsyn. Or more accessibly, Batman - who refuses to kill The Joker because killing is wrong even though The Joker keeps escaping Arkham and killing more people, and killing him would spare a lot of lives.

Who you side with more basically describes whether or not you'd pull the lever in the Trolley Problem.
Guys, why are they turning Homelander into Chris Chan? I can't be the only one who's noticed this. Like all the incest jokes, it being heavily implied that Stormfront is his mother (Home-Chan did what?)
He's always been like this, it's just he's gradually spiralled more and more since Season 1 and the mask has slipped. Hence his obsession with surrogate mummy Madelyn in Season 1. It's one of the more laudable aspects of the show, he's never had a sudden character flip, it's just been a gradual decline.

I see nothing to suggest Stormfront is his mother. Soldier Boy donated sperm for a science project to inseminate a regular human woman, but his embryo was treated with V2 and the poor woman died when Homelander exploded out of her womb. One of Stormfront's few actually sympathetic aspects was her genuine maternal instincts, including her heartbreaking rambling about sitting with Chloe under the apple trees.
After she gets laser visioned by WOIFES SON, she's mumbling:

Er hat platz am Fluss gefunden im Schatten eines Apfelbaums... Erinnerst du dich an den Tag. Chloe hat die Arme aus dem Autofenster gestreckt. Wir haben den perfekten Platz am Fluss gefunden im Schatten eines Apfelbaums. Es war das erste Mal, dass Chloe frische Äpfel gegessen hat... es war der perfekte. Ich wünschte dass er nie zu Ende geht.

We found the spot near the river in the shadow of an apple tree. Do you remember the day? Chloe held her arms out of the car window. We found the perfect spot at the river in the shadow of an apple tree. It was the first time Chloe ate fresh apples. It was the perfect moment, I wished it would never end.

One thing I do like about The Boys is it still gives their irredeemably awful characters moments of pathos.
She was a Vought insider so she'd have known if she'd donated eggs and they'd made a child. Soldier Boy certainly doesn't know if Stormfront is the mother/egg donor, since he didn't even realise he'd fathered a child. The reason he looks uncomfortable imo is that he genuinely loved Stormfront and they had a serious relationship, and in his toxic Silent Generation way is downplaying all that as "we fucked a couple of times". It's likely another set up to the prequel series.
She's also another high intellect genius character whose only real power is plot armor.
I think they already teased that she's the most intelligent character, but that pure intelligence isn't the greatest. She lacks social skills, A-Train says she didn't last long on Teen Kix because she didn't know when to shut up, and she's misstepped with Homelander several times. She can logically infer based on explicit knowledge but she can't read people, which is why she sees Ashley as useful (it will be groan-worthy if Ashley betrays her because of her genocidal plan, and then Sister Sage goes "Aha! That's why I lied to her about Phase II, it was all part of my plan"). She's basically super-autism the character.
I mostly felt that Firecracker was retarded. Even though she clearly wasn't, it was hard for me to even care for her. Her "superpower" was lame, and all she did was give Homelander her titty milk.
Her power is lame, that's built into the show. She's basically a human cigarette lighter and the only knowledge of her using her powers was lighting candles at church. The reason she's part of The Seven is PR. A-Train stayed on the team when he couldn't run because his replacement exploded, Maeve's powers were basically super strength and super healing (which most Supes seem to have), Starlight was basically picked because she would play well with Evangelicals and the one time we see The Deep do a marine takedown he's actually fairly useful but was repeatedly excluded from The Seven. There's multiple supes that seem more powerful than some of The Seven who don't get selected.

Firecracker was picked because she was a supe, so was technically eligible as a supe, and worked well as a right wing talking head. It's pretty much explicit in the show when she's signed up. I think she's a really great character.
Having Soldier Boy alternate between wanting to kill Homelander and wanting to spare him makes no fucking sense. It would've made more sense if Soldier Boy betrayed Homelander and took control of Vought, while Homelander, who survives Soldier Boy's betrayal, joins forces with Butcher to kill him.
Soldier Boy is a bastard, but he's a human one. He has relatable experiences around a human family that drive relatable issues. He's nowhere near as unhinged as someone who was effectively engineered to be a God, raised in a torture lab, and trying to navigate being a mortal God who is aging and weakening unless he gets V1.

His last couple of pivots have been him being a bastard because he thinks Homelander is pathetic and was pretending to go along with things because he doesn't want to spend the rest of his life with his pathetic son who constantly looks for approval. The most recent one with the hate spores are likely because he was forced to do some self reflection afterwards (both for torturing Homelander and locking him in the radiation chamber) and Homelander still refusing to kill him after that. It seems to have unlocked some vague paternal instinct, and the whole situation reminds him of his own betrayal by people he thought liked him, there's some fucked up code of honour thing going on.

And if the leaks are true, her plans fail because she simply didn't think of alternatives or have a contingency plan. This fat unsightly nigger could not imagine a scenario where SB didn't go against Homelander. "World smartest"
So, what you're saying is that the black woman's blind spot is her inability to understand the concept of a present father.
She can logically infer based on explicit knowledge but she can't read people
Except she can and the majority of her plans rely entirely on reading, predicting and manipulating people and knowing how to talk to them after Homelander lost his charisma post S1. She's so good at reading people that she was able to hinge her entire plan on the prediction that Homelander would act completely against his character and not kill her when she makes him think she's betrayed him last season. She doesn't piss people off because she's unaware of how she comes off, she pisses people off because she's a smug bitch who only cares about being polite when it benefits her.

i'm not watching any of this dogshit season
The show has essentially devolved into Homelander = Trump, Trump = bad.
Then there's also the "let's act like everyone who makes fun of woke shit is insane, then let's unironically show support for that exact woke shit".
Also they're parodying redpill podcasts, as if anybody has given a shit about them in 3 years.

This season is literally just "The reason Democrats lost the 2024 election". It was written right before the 2024 election, thinking they were going to win and that everything they believed was totally true.
They started filming right after Kamala lost so I have no idea why they didn't take that as a sign to maybe chill the fuck out.

I haven't tuned in to the 5th season after the abysmal mess that was 4 but I saw the clip of Homelander offering his arse to Butcher's dog and I'm wondering how many times Andrew had to look at his payslip to think "Yes, that was worth it" these writers are disgusting gooners.

Actors are usually bigger faggots and weirdos than writers. They play "dress up" for a living like children. Homelander was drinking breastmilk and flying around naked jacking off in early seasons. And he has a sexual relationship with his mother. Him showing his ass in a bestiality fantasy is normal writing and acting for this show. And behind the scenes everyone said that Antony Starr is a mental case like Homelander and actually drove the actress who played Maeve to not only quit the show but quit acting altogether.

source for this IMMEDIATELY. That is diabolical and would love to read more

Here’s what orange KiwiFarms said about it:
In July 2024, unverified allegations emerged from the Instagram account VoughtHQ, later discussed on Reddit, claiming Antony Starr bullied co-star Dominique McElligott on the set of The Boys. These allegations suggested "relentless" bullying and inappropriate behavior towards staff, which reportedly led to at least one person leaving the industry. Reddit +2
  • Source of Allegations: The claims originated from an anonymous leaker (VoughtHQ) who alleged that Starr's off-screen behavior resembled his malevolent on-screen character.
  • Corroboration: A source from the costume department allegedly supported the claims of bullying, per reports.
  • Context: The report linked these claims to Starr's earlier, documented arrest in Spain for assaulting a chef in 2022.
  • Response: Neither Antony Starr nor Dominique McElligott have publicly commented on these allegations, and the claims remain unverified rumors circulated by a fan-based leaker account.

WTF is going on with this show? The latest episode was more filler, with plenty of 'hey guys look at these celebs you know!'. Also they had that fucking gay jeet in it, because he has to be in everything these days.

The three actors were all leads on Supernatural*, a show with a huge, obnoxious female fanbase (think the autism of reddit meets the sexual debauchery of tumblr). This is a fan reacting to a sex joke between their Boys characters because those pervs live for projecting the most bizarre fetishes onto those actors.

*The guy who runs The Boys also ran Supernatural.

I genuinely don't understand why the freak of the week format from the comics wasn't adopted for the show.

The first season largely stuck to that formula and it was the only good one.

They did a great job of writing the World's Smartest Nigger, didn't they?
Should note that the recent rumored leak about the finale addresses this

Sage turns out to have been lying all along about her intelligence. She's not super smart but a super with a healing factor and vague precognition powers she's exploited for years to create the illusion she was a genius. She admits this to Homelander and he disintegrates her when all she can tell him about his success/failure for his takeover of the planet is that "it all ends in an explosion".

Also, Butcher guts Deep like a fish when Deep kills Terror, Homelander and Soldier Boy get depowered and killed with Butcher sacrificing himself holding Homelander in place so Ryan can kill them both and the ending has Starlight and Hughie raising Ryan, Voight rebranding as a media company also Paramount, and all the supes having to go underground and take on secret identities and shit and the few like Starlight that don't being actively feared and mistrusted
