From Maggie Gyllenhaal (Academy Award-nominated writer/director of The Lost Daughter) and starring Academy Award nominee Jessie Buckley and Academy Award winner Christian Bale comes THE BRIDE! A bold, iconoclastic take on one of the world’s most compelling stories.

A lonely Frankenstein (Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!

The film stars Buckley, Bale, Peter Sarsgaard, with Bening, Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal, and Oscar winner Penélope Cruz. Maggie Gyllenhaal directs from her own screenplay and produces alongside Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman Keren. The executive producers are Carla Raij, David Webb and Courtney Kivowitz.

Gyllenhaal is supported behind the camera by a team of award-winning film artisans, including director of photography Lawrence Sher, production designer Karen Murphy, editor Dylan Tichenor, music supervisor Randall Poster, composer Hildur Gudnadóttir and costume designer Sandy Powell.

Warner Bros. Pictures Presents A First Love Films / In The Current Company Production, A Maggie Gyllenhaal Film: THE BRIDE!. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, only in theaters and IMAX in North America on March 6, 2026, and internationally beginning 4 March 2026.

While not from the studio behind The Invisible Incel and Toxic Wolf Man, I can take a guess how this movie will play out. The Monster becomes a cuck as the Bride starts a revolution to take down "DAH PATRIARCHY."

Generic women empowerment film #373959, that would make the female author spin in her grave as the moral of the dangers of unchecked scientific progress and responsibility of a creator, get replaced with coom material on how awesome it is to be a freak and kill white men.

Which bridge?

What's with Hollywood and their ability to kill my interest in their movies for the last 6 years? These people try to do a spin of the original story only to end up as a lecturing film instead. Is a film starring sexy females in tight dresses with guns who don't hate men so hard to make nowadays?

Please tell me one of them has a Golden Globe at least.

I thought the trailers looked kind of fun to be honest
Sir, this is not the place for fun. Your penance is 20 spergposts about jews (women optional but encouraged) - dour and joyless is the tone you're going for. We're saving the white race here.

Okay, someone needs to explain to me how the fuck projects like these get off the ground
WB was desperate to improve their stock in the very short term so they could get sold so the owner told the CEO and Chair to say yes to any demand and give as much money as needed, which is why they had an amazing 2025 and will have an amazing 2026.

if it weren't for the fact that WB was in a bind and really needed to improve their reputation after how badly they pissed off creatives by going all in on "day and date" streaming releases in 2020/2021 this film wouldn't have an $80 million budget and $100 million marketing budget.

Because of saying yes to movies like this, WB doubled its value in the span of 4 years, or more honestly in the span of about 2. Especially in this economy, for a non-tech company and especially an entertainment company to grow this much is insane. Its only worked out so well because they knew they didn't have to give a fuck about paying off the debt because that was the new owner's responsibility when movies like this fail. Plus the bidding war jacked up their value. its actually amazing how well this entire venture worked out.

This isn't the only "WTF, who greenlit this?" film made because of WB need to improve its stock by any means necessary, almost every film Warner bros came out with last year only happened because of a need to be sold, and every film this year too. Like you really think people were lining up to give medicare age Tom Cruise $125 million for a comedy?

Award winning film artisans

I'd kill myself in public before declaring myself a "film artisan" out loud. You should die on the spot if you string those two words together in that order, even on accident.

OK, allow me to take a stab at it.

The basic idea of this movie seems to be:
"Hey, what if we combined Bonnie & Clyde with The Bride of Frankenstein?"

Where did that come from?
Well, recently, you've probably noticed that we're getting a lot of classic monster movies.
There are several Dracula and Frankenstein movies, a trailer of another Mummy movie just came out, it's a trend that is in Hollywood right now.
That's where the Frankenstein part comes from, they're following trends.

But where did the Bonnie & Clyde part come from?
Well, this movie started production in 2024, meaning that pre-production, which includes writing the script, securing the budget and getting the thing greenlit, was done in 2023.

Now.... what was the big Warner Bros thing that had a Bonnie & Clyde kind of couple that was already in production in 2023?
That's right!
Joker 2!!!

Warner Bros genuinely thought that Joker 2 would be a massive hit and the whole "gangster couple" trope would become popular.
They were expecting another trend to be started by Joker 2 and this shit was supposed to be one of the follow ups that keep the trend going.

Did that help?

There's worse ways to light $125 million on fire than to give them to Tom Cruise. He's one of the last few actors that seems to generate positive buzz among audiences.

All I can say is that they should quit whatever they're smoking and go back to snorting coke.

Did that help?
It helped in explaining why Hollywood is losing every last shred of soft power it was able to project in decades past, yes.

From reading the title I thought this was a sequel to Mother! and I was really dissapointed it wasn't.

The only thing I remember from J2 is that he gets ass raped in prison. Thankfully, that didn't start a trend, either. Then again, I haven't seen a "new" movie since... fuck, I can't remember.
