If there's anything that can be said about Western society, right and left wing views are in entirely different fundamental realities at this point. Right looks as things as they are. Left looks at how they should be. One of these is more aligned with the truth but neither are compatible with each other.

I remember seeing two posts somewhere about how this mentality goes so far it affects language. One was a /pol/ screencap about how the left sees individuals as cells of an organ of a body. Another about how, and I'm paraphrasing here, the right believes traits are part of a whole (e.g. "an autist" or "water") whereas the left believes things are a combination of their traits (e.g. "an autistic person" or "things that are watery"). This may be why they believe men can be women if they say so, because they have "female" traits regardless of the whole being. I can't find the posts themselves but you get the idea- like you said, the right and left view things in such different ways they're fundamentally incompatible with each other.

Politics is so polarized at this point only the extremes of ideologies exist in most people's minds. Simultaneously, those who used to be considered center are pushed to the right of politics because leftists see them as too extreme for having certain political views (typically regarding hot button issues like illegals, abortion, and the second amendment). Maybe this happens more in some parts of the country or the internet, but I've witnessed right wing believers paint the centrists as naive more than anything else, not strictly as baby-dick chopping liberals. This is a very stark contrast, much like left and right wings views are fundamentally now.
