Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.
The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.
One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.
It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.
To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

Listening to a police scanner the other day, and an 80-something year old woman was mauled by a loose dog is what was being reported.
No ID on the breed, and I didn't listen much longer, but it sounded like she lost a lot of blood and wasn't in good condition. I will see if I can find an article or something about it, because I'm curious if I'll see 'pit bull' in there again. Or the words, 'He's never done that' from owners.

Bit of a nothing story, just want to complain. I was walking a cemetery with my baby in the late afternoon when a woman comes in and lets her pit off the leash, which immediately starts running around and pissing on the headstones. I head to the car to leave and as I'm putting my baby in the carseat I hear "Don't worry, he's friendly!" and the dog ran to my car and tried jumping in back where I was buckling the carseat. Thank god it was wearing a harness so I yanked him down and stood with the door shut to where he couldn't get in. The owner gets him and pulls him away and the end. It was one of those big head "pure blood" pits, not like a lab mix or whatever. Pretty annoying.

A lot of people don’t think clearly like that in the moment; flight, fight, fawn, freeze, etc. I’m also thankful nothing serious happened.
If you feel like stirring the pot, make an anonymous post in your local facebook group about assholes who violate leash laws and allow their dog to pee on historical gravesites. Then sit back and watch the seething.

I can only imagine what would happen if she did this in an Islamic or Jewish cemetery not a Christian one. It’d be regarded as a hate crime in most Western nations.
Glad to hear nothing came of it. But next time it happens, take photos/footage and jump on social media to ask “would this be acceptable in a Jewish or Muslim cemetery? If not, why is it acceptable in a Christian one?”
