The Causes of Autism and can it be cured? - Serious discussion.

Why do people constantly want to cure autism? Autistics are funny people. It would be a shame if we'd loose them.

We will always have something to cover on this site, even if Autism is cured entirely.

I honestly think ageing the parents has some link towards autism, in referencing OPLs parents His mother was 40 Shawn she gave birth to him, so her fairly old genes must have affected Chris mental coding or whatever, also considering his father was literally in his mid- fifties but the time Chris was only born probably didn’t give him many genetic favours. 😒

Saying that autism is a genetic disorder is an oversimplification, since multiple genes have been implicated in autism, and they all have low penetrance. So, deficiency in one or two genes in question won't automatically make someone autistic.

IMO, while there is some genetic factor to it, I think that the major culprit is lack of socialization at a young age (<6 months), especially since socialization therapy at young ages is the best treatment we have right now. We learn our social cues and rules from observing interactions with other people, and the brains of infants are surprisingly good at this. Too many parents use the TV as a surrogate babysitter; without actual human contact, the infant brain can't develop the skills it needs.
Have there been any studies done about rate of autism and mothers go back to work quickly?

I don't think it can be fully cured with the brain you have. Maybe you might be able to somehow detect it pre-natal which is what some organisations mean when they talk about a cure.

There are some factors that I would think make the chances of being autistic higher but not really one universal reason.

It would probably be better to find ways in which you could minimise autistic traits.

I always felt it is a combination of genetic and epigenetic factors, lack of social development in your pre-adolesent years, bad parenting, childhood bullying, OCD, general lack of sentience. Seems with low functioning autists it's entirely genetic. But high functioning autists, some are totally aware of their autist behaviour and attempt to work on it, others are totally oblivious to their sperging and drift into a sad lolcow state live on the internet for the world to see.

But I don't think all lolcows are autistic. At all. I think many drift towards lolcow interests because of lonliness, it allows them to be a part of a wider community and make friends, maybe even find sexual partners, most of them must surely be aware of the lolcow nature of their fandoms. But, it's their ticket to a friend group. Trannies same deal, they know it's fucked up but they get attention for being one, so they do it. They werent "born" the opposite sex. They choose it for attention and fake internet points on Reddit/Twitter

I always wonder why many, though not all, autistics tend to be so good at becoming laughing stocks. Why do autists love to ridicule themselves?

We barely know how the brain functions as is, so we're most likely decades off curing autism and most other mental disorders. As for trying to treat the symptoms rather than the condition itself, due to how much the condition affects a person's behaviours, personality and interests, to rid them of the condition would end up fundamentally changing who they are as a person. I do feel that catching the condition early is important for helping someone with high-functioning autism effectively deal with it, as I've known high-functioning autists who didn't find out they were autistic until they were in their twenties, and ended up not getting access to help that would've helped them with a lot of their issues relating to the condition.

I presume it's because people don't like the idea of someone being doomed to failure or denied a proper life purely because their brain decided it didn't quite feel like developing properly. I'd imagine people feel the same about most genetic disorders, both physical and mental. No-one likes watching some poor sod get fucked over because of things outside of their control.

My wife has a friend who has an adult son with autism. The dude is in his twentys and has never spoken a single word in his life, gets physically violent if you try to make him wear clothing and has to wear adult diapers because he refuses to use the bathroom. When I was growing up in the 1970s-1980s that is what autism looked like. I believe that is real autism and that it is genetic in origin and we do not have a cure for it.

In the last few decades with the meteoric rise of diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome and higher functioning autism society has developed this completely new view of what constitutes autism and I think it is bullshit. Asperger's Syndrome and higher functioning autism ain't real autism and it ain't even fucking real in general. There has always been weird people who don't fit in to society, who are socially inept fuckups who can't socialize normally. But people can't admit they're social fuckups and parents sure as Hell don't want to admit their children are socially inept screwups so they latch on to the autism/aspergers label so instead of having to deal with the fact that their kid is a loser they can say they're a special snowflake with autism.

In short, 99% of the people diagnosed with "autism" in current world can't be cured because aside from being socially inept oddballs, losers and fuckups there is nothing actually medically wrong with them.
