Chris sits in a really difficult to define category. He's not a vegetable they can pop in a room with a TV, nor is he a rage tard they can medicate into stupor, or a savant Rain Man. He's an alien. He's hard to deal with, he's unpredictable at times, and nobody wants to put in that thankless work.

He's 'high-functioning', by the book - but let's face it, there are already plenty of people who have no mental or physical disabilities that would be considered a fucking long way away from high-functioning by the world's standards (eg. other lolcows on this website.)

So he's out here, with us. But based on everything we've seen, it's obvious he's just barely able to survive and understand the world on his own. Really he's been woefully equipped for the world by Barb and Bob, and nothing has really improved since childhood - he's a time capsule of a human being.

The best thing for him would be to have handlers, of a sort, once Barb is dead. That and his imaginary worlds, his places he can understand, where he can enact his childhood ad finitum. Then he would be less likely to get exploited by thirteen year old retards for the sake of PSVitas.

If the police will do fuck all about it, the papers are a good idea. I'd recommend the local rags for Charlottesville and the towns those scumfucks are from.
They might be interested in running something, but there's absolutely no way they'd name and shame and thus basically libel someone; there's just too much liability in that. At best, if the reporter and/or editor is sufficiently convinced by this evidence, I could see them running a story such as this:
Charlottesville woman Christine Chandler claims she was threatened, blackmailed and extorted into sending gifts and money to several shady individuals. After contacting her online, she says, they tricked her into sending them embarrassing photos and video; they then threatened to post these publicly if she refused to follow their instructions. As a result, they were able to extort around $6000 worth of gifts and gift cards from her. Christine, who is on the autism spectrum, says that this has all been tremendously stressful on her, and the police, she claims, have refused to help investigate these allegations. We attempted to obtain a statement from the Charlottesville Police Department, but they gave no comment.

Truth is a defense against libel, but the fact of the matter is that the truth has not been legally decided. The alleged blackmailers not been convicted, and if they're minors the records may be sealed even if they were convicted so their names wouldn't be able to be released publicly. Doxing them publicly and accusing them of crimes is literally just inviting them to come sue you; if they take that bait and sue, then you're going to have to prove your accusations in court. It's one way to do an end-run around the police, but then you're on the defensive side and you're all on your own. Defendants in civil court don't get free court-appointed legal counsel.

The best bet here is probably still law enforcement, but they're not likely to be willing to deal with a lot of drama. They're only going to be interested if you emphatically stick to the facts of the actual crimes you're alleging. Give them when (dates), what (blackmail, extortion), how (email/chat logs, receipts), and who. Cops want something that gives them a slam dunk in court... they need evidence which is solid, irrefutable, and most importantly, which can't be tainted by the defense attorneys putting Chris on the stand and getting him to babble incoherently about alternate dimensions and moon weapons. If that happens and the jury gets the impression that Chris is just some loon, the whole entire case could unravel. It is not going to be an easy slam dunk; the prosecution would have to be extremely vigilant to make sure it focuses on the crimes committed against Chris and not on the character which is Christine Chandler.

Ultimately the law right now recognizes Chris as a grown man who agreed to all of this bullshit. Regardless of how dumb we think Chris is, on paper he's no less capable of making his own decsions than a normal person of sound mind. This would make prosecuting an extortion case difficult, then factor in the internet aspect and different locales... unless Chris himself suddenly matures enough to refocus his autism from ponies and vidya to sweet, sweet, revenge and begin the legal process from the very beginning and sustains pressure on the suspects via a lawyer and actual charges being filed, ain't shit gonna happen.

Hope this at least stops the bleeding, and no one scams him again. But we all know this just raises the bar, and some sick fuck will attempt to become Idea Guy 3.0. Oh well.... at least Barb got what she deserved for reverse mortgaging 14B after Bob had it paid off. Cunt, hope Chris really laid it in.

I hope all their family, friends and coworkers find out that they blackmailed a mentally ill man into buying them thousands of dollars worth of video games and making him punch his mother and shit on the floor while they watch.

We're assholes but at the very least we're self contained assholes who limit ourselves to making our mean edgelord jokes on the site.

Pretty dreadful and sad series of events.

If you hate Chris you enable this sort of thing by justifying any action towards him due to the culture of hate that's built up around him. Some of the stuff he's done has been objectionable, of course, but is entirely explained by mental illness and poor upbringing.

Just imagine being gullible enough to seriously believe your made-up land is in danger from moon lasers. Is someone capable of that to be hated or pitied for any action that may arise from similar levels of damaged thought processes?

I'd say compassion should win every time.

Disclaimer: I have not paid attention to Chris since 2009 until I registered here, so forgive me if I get facts wrong.

Had Chris shown signs of being this far gone before these two fucknuggets showed up?
My impression is that with all of the recent events in his life, like his father dying and the other variety of terrible things to happen to him, it fucked with his mind a mighty amount. To anyone, losing a loved one is traumatic, but from what I understand Chris's father genuinely looked out for him, in his own unique way. He knew that Chris needed to be tard-wrangled and did what he could to make sure Chris wasn't shitting on floors. Borb doesn't give a shit; Borb barely has a functioning brain beyond gibs.

People have mentioned in the thread that support systems are key; and I can't stress that enough. Null seems to be the best support system Chris has, and puts in the effort to communicate in a way that Chris can understand. He's autistic; that's well established at this point. People who interact with him on a serious, consistent basis need to learn to work with him and figure out his tells; Null mentioned how Chris was evasive when talking about the recent convention happenings. This applies to anyone with a significant disability. And what seems to be the case is that the people who Chris is closest to don't bother to work with him on his level. So you have a sped going around unattended, and this is what happens. Support groups need to be effective and most importantly, they need to care. When you're surrounded by enablers or people who feign care, it only ends up making the situation worse.

From what I know about Chris, he's kind of an asshole, but mostly well-intentioned. His quality of life is nosediving and even when he goes to conventions, he's still an unwitting circus attraction to some degree. He deserves to interact with people, because he likes to interact with people. But it isn't fair to him to go out and be blamed for shit he really can't comprehend like normal people. He deserves a fair shake, and that likely means some type of full-time minder.

Also, is there any possible way he could be persuaded to go to a professional therapist, particularly one specialized in autism? Even if it involved massaging the truth. That's the only kind of person I can think of who might actually be able to help long term.
IANAL, but I could guess that if he were to get arrested again and get appointed a autism specialized therapist in court, or through some sort of adult welfare program, if available. (Think CPS but for tards.)

As for what these assholes did to Chris, it's pathetic. Literally stealing candy from a baby, but then blackmailing it too. If Stephen Boyd's mother is covering for him, that speaks miles to their character. I'm also waiting to see how the more progressive crowd will treat a disabled trans woman being taken advantage of by two men. I can also imagine Null's role in trying to help Chris will get looked over in the SJW game of telephone.

So if you have some fond memory of Chris from the years gone by that revolve around his antics, I'm sorry to say, there is no Santa. It was trolls all the way down.
I am crushed.

[This is the only funny part, so if you're planning on laughing during this post, laugh now.]

Joshua Wise and Stephen Boyd send Chris photoshopped pictures of a weapon on the moon, and pictures of riots from Ferguson, warning that they could destroy CWCville. Chris believes this.

[End laugh track.]
I am amused!

I am sympathetic to his plight & your effort.

It's unfortunate that he looks the way he does. If Chris was more handsome or more charming like Robin Williams, he'd be well-taken care of; it'd be a live adaptation of Mork & Mindy.

I highly doubt those NEETs have jobs

What the fuck? It's like if "King of Catfish" was actually real

Good plan but I bet Joshua has no friends, no job, and probably his family is already maxed out on their disappointment.

I’m not sure how that would work though, I’m sure he could get one if he or his family could afford to pay them privately but does the US goverment provide what would essentially be a life long babysitter for Chris without him going into a special needs home?

Home health aides exist, though it's an extremely unforgiving and underpaid profession. I don't know if they exist for mental disabilities, I'm only aware of ones for severe physical impairment. A guy I know has severe nerve damage and runs through aides like clockwork, because they keep quitting, even with his wife helping full-time.

The way to get a criminal case acted on is bad press, or motivated attorneys. I am pretty confident that autism (or other intellectual disability) charities would love to assist. Even if they can't force a criminal prosecution they could potentially sue civilly without costing Chris anything.
