The issue for me is agency and explicitness. The money does get spent on bills...eventually. The mortgage gets paid, the utilities get paid, property taxes get paid, food gets bought...eventually.
You can argue that Barb would not be able to afford to stay in the house without Chris and/or that she's is making Chris pay more than half of their living costs, but a non-trivial amount of what he gives Barb is going on expenses Chris would have to meet even if he was living on his own.
There's probably some Kiwis in the PA-MD-VA-NC area who can make the trek to the Holy Land..
[This is the only funny part, so if you're planning on laughing during this post, laugh now.]
Joshua Wise and Stephen Boyd send Chris photoshopped pictures of a weapon on the moon, and pictures of riots from Ferguson, warning that they could destroy CWCville (the fictional city Sonichu lives in, where Chris is mayor). Chris believes this is a real threat.
[End laugh track.]
I personally contacted Greene County Sheriff Steven S. Smith who refused to do anything, saying that it's Chris's choice to shit on the floor.
I remember a lot of trolls failing to get Chris to do certain things. Bettering his life, for instance. Wasn't there some girl who archived his videos who tried repeatedly to help him and gave up after several months? While it is possible to get Chris to do stupid things, in the end, he's always the one who chooses to do them. I'd say he's not as malleable as, say, crazy Gail.I don't think you're considering the basis of Chris' fame. The vast majority of the material that made Chris famous, the reason we're talking about him today, is largely artificial. Chris became famous because he was the unwitting star of a weekly, sometimes daily, reality show.
Saga after saga drove a dedicated fanbase. Spawned tons of memes. Like the Liquid saga was huge. And it's funny you mention the Megan saga, because the most interesting part of the Megan saga, its meltdown, and she came for cwc, came after the trolls got involved.
The examples you mentioned are ones you picked ex post facto, after you already heard of Chris.
Yes, 99% of Chris content (or the vast majority, let's be conservative and say 90%) was scripted. The examples you picked are like maybe a dozen examples, which is a drop in the ocean compared to the weekly saga content that sucked in viewers to begin with. Chris continues to get new fans, not purely because of anything he's doing now, but because he does something now, and then most crucially, people stumble upon the cwcki and get sucked in.
Heh, you sure about that? For example, Stephanie Bustcakes was manufactured. Trolls even made up the name.
Basically, you should question your assumptions about everything since Chris started doing shit online.
They sound more like Bluespike wannabes than A-Logs. An A-Log (like Hirtes for example) would look at all this and laugh with glee over the idea of Chris getting blackmailed out of six grand.I wouldn't put it past them considering these people seem like Super A-Logs
Oh fuck yes. Maybe now Chris will be more open to the idea of filing a few reports.
While it is possible to get Chris to do stupid things, in the end, he's always the one who chooses to do them.
The disability one?
Okay yeah I meant that.wrong word
One clarification. If it's really a reverse mortgage why aren't any of Chris's "guardian angels" explaining that there is no mortgage payment? The entire point of a reverse mortgage is to fund retirement through the equity in your home. His 900 per month is going to something else.
Oh please, do yourself a favour and watch the movie. They actually did a movie of the chick tract and it's beautiful.Dark Dungeons was a Jack Chick tract, not a movie.
He probably could be, yes. Things get dangerous when bad people hold control over him.And that's what makes this a dangerous situation. It might have been coerced, it may have been under duress, but he still punched Barb. There has to be legitimate concern about whether he could be talked into harming her in other ways. The line between neglect and abuse has now been crossed and that can't be ignored.
Up to a point.I don't see how families divide up expenses between themselves being any one else's business.
The people trying to better his life didn't know what they were doing. Troll manipulation of Chris got substantially better over time, but at the same time, no one wanting to better Chris managed to get his ear. Only people who wanted him to do something funny on stage.I remember a lot of trolls failing to get Chris to do certain things. Bettering his life, for instance. Wasn't there some girl who archived his videos who tried repeatedly to help him and gave up after several months? While it is possible to get Chris to do stupid things, in the end, he's always the one who chooses to do them. I'd say he's not as malleable as, say, crazy Gail.
I'm not bothered by troll involvement, per se. Troll involvement is largely necessary for internet Chris to be funny. At least to the extent that people have come to expect. Its never bothered me that there was troll involvement. Do people feel like movies less because the actors arenta really heros? I've been bothered by the old school trolls shitting on everybody that followed and then getting a case of trolls remorse.
It would last 10 seconds and then it would be "REEEEEEE KIWIFARMS IS A HATE SITE". And the people here who freely throw around racist terms would only prove them right, too
When we look at it all, yeah it sounds stupid; who the fuck would believe there’s some moon weapon out there to destroy a fictional universe? But it doesn’t matter how we see it, they knew that Chris would fall for it and they used that to not only get money, but to also get Chris to do the shit on camera to get even more ammo to use against her.
