Man, what a bummer. When Null first started dropping clues about this, I had high hopes I would get to see someone fucking with Chris get fined or jailed; not because I'm gonna white knight for Chris, but because I would genuinely find the whole premise hilarious.

The fact that I now know all the fucked up details, and also didn't get my laughs from legal resolution is bumming me out.

At this point I'm hoping Null can get some support getting charges pressed, or some internet vigilante fucks up Wise's and Boyd's personal lives past the point of recovery; I seriously need something to laugh out loud at right now.

This is such a shame, sad it happened.

Also completely dumbfounded at the police not taking action against this kind of stuff. Isn't there laws against harassing a mentally ill person?

There are laws against harassing people and in some places harassing someone vulnerable is an aggravating factor. That said, an awful lot of stuff isn't that easy to take action on. The amount of money involved here is small and the people who did this aren't in local police jurisdiction. Law enforcement aren't going to be in a hurry to pick it up unless there are other extortion victims.

Sheesh, I don't know whether to be depressed or pleased by this thread.

I guess even if we're all autistic jackasses, at least we still have some dignity.

Oh, and I'm sure Mr. Boyd and Mr. Wise are looking on. Boys, don't forget:

The Internet is forever. Can't wait for you two to enter the job market...

If these guys don't start developing an online presence then it's not going to matter. It also depends on what sort of job they're doing.

It hasn't been enough time to do a search on them to be sure, but if they just go away then they probably got away with it judging from what Null mentioned about his interactions with law enforcement.

In reality, Chris wouldn't mind being stripped of his freedom - having other people do all the decision making and tell him where to go would more or less be a dream for him. He LOVED high school where he was under the impression people liked socializing with him (when in reality it was just forced interaction with the tard and EVERYBODY wanted him gone). Just give him playtime with his hedgehogs and no responsibility of his own and he'd be a pig in slop.

I really don't know about that. There would be no lego. There would be no video games. There would be no more trips to cons. And, most importantly, there would be no more internet. People living in group homes are strictly regulated.

At least it was like that back in the early 2000s. Things might be different these days, I'm not sure, I admit that I no longer care about group home environments since I no longer have a family member that might have been placed in one. But I would bet you one American dollar that CWC would not be allowed on the internet period.

Barb screeching and wrecking his room when he wouldn't sleep in her bedroom with him comes to mind.

Literally what. How have I never stumbled across this?

He's not crazy Gail because he's not schizophrenic. But that's the main distinction I can think of.

Point of contention, but are we actually SURE Chris isn't schizo? Even before this whole shitshow went down, his grasp on reality can be pretty damn loose. Hell, even your schtick about "Chris doesn't often LIE, he just says what he BELIEVES is the truth" kind of falls in line with that. Not to say autists can't be delusional, but it doesn't seem (to me) like his readiness to believe and say absolutely absurd shit falls within the realm of "Autist gullibility". I know he's been evaluated before, but has Schizophrenia ever been explicitly ruled out?

The fact the only people Chris can really trust all along are the ones who spend their free time laughing at him is whats most depressing about this entire situation.

The only hope other than juridical justice or vigilante doxxing is the satisfaction the first thing employers will see is this thread, and all the fucked up things these two kids did to an autistic man for money and pleasure.

Chris did not have free will in a meaningful sense during the trolling.
Hmm, I'm not so sure. I remember a lot of "WTF" moments in the IRC. Even the trolls were surprised at Chris's actions sometimes.

I think I'm the only major old school troll that's still around. I presume you mean me?
I was actually around in the old days, back when all he had was an ED page that no one cared about. I wasn't an important figure myself but I did watch most of the drama from the inside.

Has anyone told Cole what’s going on? I know he doesn’t care about barb, but someone extorting his autístic brother in financial, demeaning, and sexual ways may cross a line for him and make him help look for care options.

Cole would only be interested in getting his hands on the Barb getting punched video.

I think the biggest hope is David Chandler might step in and do something to get Chris situated somewhere.

There are plenty of group homes in which the residents have considerable freedom. Unfortunately Chris is likely to have no choice and be stuck with wherever will take him and the amount of belongings he could take to even the best would be extremely limited.

If Null starts a legal action fund-raiser on indiegogo or something I, and presumably many other people, would happily throw a few $$$ at it.
If you'd check the Terrorist tag in lolcow general, you'd see the kind of people who'd try extremely hard to not let this kind of thing succeed.

Also, what's required here is simply for the Jerkops to get their heads out of their asses, it's not a civil suit, it's a criminal case, you don't need money to call the cops on a blackmailer.

Those group homes are usually rather expensive and the people placed there are placed there by families with money who want their relative to have their own life to the best extent possible.

CWC wouldn't go to a place like that. He has no money and what little family he actually has shun him and his mother. His tug boat would be taken from him and, if they even opted to give him an allowance, they would probably provide him with less disposable income than barb presently does.

If Chris goes into a group home, the ride is over. Unless he lucks out somehow. Chris seems to have a weird penchant for having the chips fall in his favor every so often.

I agree with your post, but isn't uninformed naysaying kind of what we do around here? That makes about as much sense as telling Canadians to stop being politely douchey, or telling Slow-In-The-Minds to stop picking their noses.... Point is, I don't see that making much headway, even on a topic as fucked and serious as this. But hey, maybe I'm wrong.

You could have lead the charge by not making this post
