The parents weren't like that to "justify" The siblings' behavior, everyone can see that Ashley and Andrew would be better off dead, but it'd be really gay to have the parents be good people but Ashley and Andrew were this way because "that's just how they are". Psycho shit like what they do usually comes from somewhere. Their parents neglected them and made Andrew a sort of substitute parent, Ashley (a sociopathic manipulator even at a very young age) and Andrew spent an unhealthy amount of time together as kids with shit parental guidance so it's very reasonable they'd turn out like maladjusted freaks. Ashley's insecure from past friends abandoning her because she's an unlikable bitch and sees Andrew as someone she can keep around no matter what, so while Ashley definitely would like having relations with Andrew she mostly sees it as a way to keep him around.
