The cringiest things about gamers

Acting like you've personally kicked their puppy if you don't like a game they do, or even if you do like it but don't suck it's dick as hard as they do.

You can find this in most hobbies, but gamers tend to be especially autistic about it. I still recall my brother's friend getting close to rage crying at me because I said even though I like(d) Ocarina of Time, I didn't think it was the best Zelda game. He was 24 at the time. I've had gamers get legit furious with me for saying that even though I do like Chrono Trigger, the game is overrated as fuck and not as good as they make it out to be.

PC fags are the vegans and yuppies of video games.
this isn't a good comparison because while some people prefer their food either be healthier or tastier and some people prefer either being wealthy wageslaves or being on welfare and actually having time to enjoy life, there is literally nothing that PCs are worse than consoles at. using a console to play multiplats is simply the incorrect, inferior, misinformed choice.
all they'll do is say "lol get good/get rich faggot peasant".
PC gaming actually costs less in the long run when you do the math and isn't any harder to setup than a console. you already need a PC for all your other computing needs, it's actually less hassle to just get a more powerful PC that can play games than to have a separate machine just for gaming.
Then we get to "what computers can do". Emulate, run high graphics specs, fucking wonderful. Can you get laid too, or is that a function now replaced by a fuckhole for how insufferable you are, PC fags? I ain't even calling out dildos because I still believe that no woman would legitimately run with PC fags
what can bitches do? they are nothing but wet holes, I'd rather have a fleshlight and VR waifu or a cheap hooker than a low quality gaming machine. some men care about much finer things in life besides how pretty their cum toilet is.
no one has time to deal with autistic DIY projects that have more faggot multiple step divergent sub assembly inconsistencies than a fuck device from IKEA.
installing directx and visual c++ redist isn't that hard bro
I'm sure you're probably a better lot than most PC faggots
you were wrong

I won't hold it against you for buying a console, everyone makes mistakes in their life, just remember to get a PC next time now that you have been enlightened by my knowledge and intellect.

Pretentious indie devs who think their "deep and complex" works haven't been done before and even better in books. Worse if they come up with shit like "My game is not supposed to be fun"

Not hating on the indies as a whole, but if i see another game's description starting with "x tackles a mature story with deep Freudian philosophy about the nature of incest" or whatever before telling me what fucking genre it is or gameplay, im giving up on em

Also, no one cares if your horror game was inspired by Silent Hill, faggot. If i wanna play SH i'll play SH

Console versus PC tard fights.

Ok, fine, some games do objectively run better on PC, won't dispute that. Still, if you having genuine fun on whatever system you choose to play games on, what's the point in shitting on those who have fun on something else? Just play your games and be glad you got what you felt was your money's worth.
It's extra funny because PC gaming probably wouldn't exist had Super Mario Bros. not saved it from the ashes after the crash.

Bonus points if its some beardy hipster in thick rimmed glasses and wearing flannel and skinny jeans with a coifed haircut.

As for epic gamer moments... Hatemail in general tend to be on the cringier side. Especially when you get a message telling you how terrible you are even though you won the match. That person actively sought out your profile to send a direct message just to let you know how not mad they are.

i hate espots and it has only gotten worse since the starcraft 2 days. now they making games with esport in mind instead of people creating their own metas and its really hurting games in general (looking at you overwatch).
The sports obsession makes games really samey, and you don't get the crazy, off-the-wall stuff you used to in older MP games. Hell, Starcraft Brood War and SSBM were created without any competitive play in mind, and they're excellent competitive games, but you can also have some fun, unbalanced settings too.

Sometimes, it just seems like an excuse to cut out the cost and effort of animation, gameplay, and testing.

PC gaming was unaffected by the crash, but I don't doubt that it would have stayed more niche if the console market didn't recover.

Consoles used to have the convenience of plug and play and no DRM. I don't know if that is still the case.

What are you talking about? The crash was largely limited to the US and Japan, and was a boom period for home computers and indie devs in the UK.

Are those even actually gamers though?

Too many gamers are too cynical and absurdly hard to please, a game basically has to be absolute perfection to please some gamers otherwise it's shit, there's no middle ground.

It's basically an extreme bias against new games, for these kind of gamers if a game is new, it's shit, it's never as good as games used to be, it's serious rose colored glasses.

I think there's mainly two groups of these kind of cynical gamers, those that are stuck in the 8 bit and 16 bit console eras and those are stuck in the late 90s and early 2000s PC gaming scene.

I love both of those eras of games as well but you have to accept that things change and one shouldn't let nostalgia make you unable to appreciate the present.

I just don't understand calling yourself a gamer and making it your number 1 hobby but hating most of what you play, why are you wasting your time and money?

I'm not saying you should like everything that's out there, sometimes there are perfectly valid criticisms to make of something, but I just don't understand that extreme cynicism you see, where some gamers begrudgingly admit a game is good as if they'd rather complain and hate that they can't complain much. I just don't understand that at all.

When it comes to gamers in general, whether it's the cynics or the ResetERA type SJWs everyone needs to lighten the fuck up and learn how to have fun again.
Used to be one of the cynics. Grew out of it once I hit my 20's and got more into PC gaming. The cure for a cynical gamer is broadening your horizons.

CRPG fans have a habit of being cynical. Back in 2011, that made sense. Old school CRPGs were practically an endangered species. By 2015, this viewpoint became utterly juvenile. Shadowrun Returns, that Planescape spiritual successor, Wasteland 2, and Divinity Original Sin. One of the best CRPGs, Divinity Original Sin 2, was released a few years ago.

Consoles have always had some form of DRM or copy protection. The NES had lock out chips, the SNES had various forms of copy protection, Dreamcast had GD-ROMs, region locks, Earthbound and Spyro Year of the Dragon's anti-piracy measures. In the cases where a console didn't have copy protection, that was due to how new a technology was. One could argue that consoles are DRM themselves.
