It's validation content. I doubt the majority of his viewers have two thunks to plunk in their heads when it comes to any of these things. It's more the community thing of gathering about the fireplace and burning the next effigy or feeling smart for liking the right things. It's about making the wittiest comment and getting hundreds of updoots on YouTube. Validation is a hell of a drug. All Drinker has to do is preach to the choir over and over again.
Where the grift comes in is the fact that YouTube caters to people with both Left and Right ideologies, but in a performative sense. Your Recommended Videos will always show you what YouTube believes you want to see based on your search history. I don't think many people understand that YouTube doesn't necessarily show you what you actually want but what is relevant based on what the algorithm thinks you want.

Doesn't this just vindicate them more though? While I think Nerdrotic is absolute slop youtube, it's clear the man made a career off this sort of anti woke content. If anyone is going to revel in the idea that a bigger opponent is trying to 'cancel' him, it'll be Nerdrotic. He's going to make money from this attention.
You're thinking like a studio exec from 20 years ago not like the woke ideologues that run Lucasfilm. The Acolyte isn't just a TV show for them, it's their manifesto. When youtubers make fun of it for weeks on end and the review scores plummet below The Holiday Special they become enraged because to them we're making fun of their core ideology. The more we ridicule the show, the more vindictive they'll get which will drive away what's left of their audience.
Pretty spot on, yeah. It’s why these people go into hysterical fits when you criticize social justice stuff, they aren’t capable of understanding that ideas exist by themselves and stand on their own merits. Criticism of these ideas isn’t a criticism of the people who hold them, it only serves to BETTER the theory by intentionally steelmanning it…but their whole personality is nothing but the ideology so it becomes a personal attack. Their ideas never become more rigorously formed and thought out because they’re never put against the anvil, so to speak.
That makes sense. Time and time again this story has played out and it never goes well for these people. I'm curious to know when the consequences of releasing shitshow after shitshow will affect them. For so long we've seen this sort of thing hamfisted into media and every time these shows flop terribly.
