The Definitive Edition/Entry - And why they'll never happen again.

I'm not surprised that it's shit given that gearbox did it but how did they make the textures worse? I guess that was the tail end of the consoles-being-more-powerful
-than-computers era
They fucked up a lot of shaders when porting the game, most criminally bumpmapping. That jank made its way to the MCC release which eventually fixed these issues.

No matter how dogshit a remaster is, I look more forward to those than any new release. If just to say "phew, it's dogshit. $30 saved". AI upscaling and sharpening filter fucking blows, but some remasters are fucking amazing. I still hold onto spyro and crash getting some of the best in the genre.

Age of Mythology is being applauded but its remastering of art is so simple I'd almost call AI on it. People are doing so in droves as is, but even if it ain't AI, it.. looks like AI, so might as well be. Yet, it's AoM and it's great, but just feels wrong in some way.

Every avid Worms player I've known has told me that Worms: Armageddon is THE Worms game.

Gran Turismo peaking with GT4 on the PS2 is a common sentiment, many older fans of the series consider it the best entry as a matter of fact even if they personally prefer another one.

GTA III/Vice City on the Xbox. You can rip your music as your own radio station and have updated textures that take advantage of the Xbox's horsepower.

Yes, I'm aware of the PC versions with mods.

he PC version of Halo was inferiour to the console versions,
You clearly never played any of the custom maps where you could fly pelicans, longswords, seraphs, drive scarabs, etc. No one gives a shit about the bumpmaps from the original version. The only ones who give a shit about those are newfag grifters on youtube. Not people who actually grew up with the series or played the games. The differences are minor graphical changes at worst. Its not like they cut entire weapons or maps. The PC port also gave us more multiplayer maps like timberland, ice fields, gehyrophobia, and danger canyon.

The original version of Halo CE didn't even have online multiplayer.

Interesting topic, but you could start arguing that most ports/versions of games are compromised in some capacity. Nobody is probably interested in my ramblings listing all the bullshit versions and useless comparisons between games, so I will say in most cases it's either and emulated version from the OG console release/version or PC + fan patches and mods. To be honest, can't think of a definitive version, maybe the PC version of Morrowind or the Japanese version of Ace Combat 3 ?

Even the PC version of Morrowind is supplanted by OpenMW. Maybe a Morrowind autist can detail why that's incorrect but I can't think of anything.
Well could be either some sort of mod or patch that doesn't work with OpenMW or can't be implemented for whatever reason. Not sure how many if at all bugs/glitches/balance things OpenMW "fixes" so could be the opinion that certain broken things are integral parts of the game. Those are the only two things that I can think of.

That's because Xbox Live was not around at the time.

I want to say Alan Wake on the Xbox 360 played through an Xbox Series console. Original soundtrack, product placement, DLC ready on the go. The remaster omitted the product placement. Does the PC port have that too?
