Disaster The Democratic Party is bleeding millennial support. - Milliennials finally figure out "muh Nazis" won't get them jobs.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (Reuters) - Enthusiasm for the Democratic Party is waning among millennials as its candidates head into the crucial midterm congressional elections, according to the Reuters/Ipsos national opinion poll.

The online survey of more than 16,000 registered voters ages 18 to 34 shows their support for Democrats over Republicans for Congress slipped by about 9 percentage points over the past two years, to 46 percent overall. And they increasingly say the Republican Party is a better steward of the economy.

Although nearly two of three young voters polled said they do not like Republican President Donald Trump, their distaste for him does not necessarily extend to all Republicans or translate directly into votes for Democratic congressional candidates.

That presents a potential problem for Democrats who have come to count on millennials as a core constituency - and will need all the loyalty they can get to achieve a net gain of 23 seats to capture control of the U.S. House of Representatives in November.

Young voters represent an opportunity and a risk for both parties, said Donald Green, a political science professor at Columbia University in New York City.

“They’re not as wedded to one party,” Green said. “They’re easier to convince than, say, your 50- or 60-year-olds who don’t really change their minds very often.”

Terry Hood, 34, an African-American who works at a Dollar General store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and took this year’s poll, said he voted for Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.

But he will consider a Republican for Congress because he believes the party is making it easier to find jobs and he applauds the recent Republican-led tax cut.

“It sounds strange to me to say this about the Republicans, but they’re helping with even the small things,” Hood said in a phone interview. “They’re taking less taxes out of my paycheck. I notice that.”

The Reuters/Ipsos poll surveyed young voters during the first three months of this year and the same period in 2016.

Only 28 percent of those polled expressed overt support for Republicans in the 2018 poll - about the same percentage as two years earlier.

But that does not mean the rest will turn out to back Democrats, the survey showed. A growing share of voters between ages 18 and 34 years old said they were undecided, would support a third-party candidate or not vote at all.

The shift away from Democrats was more pronounced among white millennials - who accounted for two-thirds of all votes cast in that age group in 2016.

I think you guys are giving the Alabama special election more significance than it's due. It was pretty much perfectly set up to be sniped by a democrat thanks to local corruption and RNC incompetence. The only guy that was well regarded at that level of government in Alabama was the one the election was being held to replace. Roy Moore was a senile psycho who couldn't win an election to save his life.

if you were going for millennials, why didn't you go after the majority who were cool with bernie, and instead went after the loud minority who have all the money they need (so they don't care about bernie's policies) and spend every moment checking and balancing privilege while only caring about shallow things like skin color and "does this person have a vagina?" ?

Part of the issues currently plaguing the DNC is that Hillary pretty much eviscerated the DNC during her time.

She filled it full of her cronies, who were only interest in what help HRC

She arranged all donations to end up in her pockets crippling local elections efforts.

She focused so much on after her win the DNC is currently headless, directionless and broke as all hell all while time trying to rebuild both a fundraising infrastructure and a talent pool who can tackle the GoP hot-takes.

Watching their latest decisions and directions...they're totally fucked in 2020.

Most of the millennials supporting democrats will never change, they're so stubborn and locked in that they'll never change, regardless of the facts set before them. They grew up hearing Bush is the devil and republicans are evil from their parents and just believe it now. Republicans on the other hand have so much room to grow, you have the people who are sick of identity politics, you have the people who are just sick of a group or head of a group deciding over the public like what happened when the DNC chose Hillary over Bernie.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but Trump's victory was so inspiring to many young people who even pay a small amount of attention to politics. Not because they were following him or believed in him, just because it was so out of left field. Obama's victories were certain, everyone knew what was going to happen. Young people were used to "yeah, these are the two candidates but everyone knows who is going to actually win". That's why there were a lot of young people not voting because why bother when it's obvious who is going to win it. But with the last election everyone had a moment of "oh, you actually never know who it's going to be" and "anything can happen".

The DNC messed up bad, but probably inspired a lot of new young voters, so good job.

Millennial's also fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. Lets not take big steaming dumps on them just yet.

If anything, Millennial's and Gen Z are most likely going to lead the backlash. There is a cozy echo sphere the Boomer and Gen X generations live in, having missed the double catastrophes of the 2008 economic collapse and almost 20 years of low grade warfare. The idea that Millennial's are entitled and misguided really misses the mark. The vocal idiots on college campuses may be loud and obnoxious, but they don't actually speak for the generation. The fact that they claim to do so only makes the seething resentment that is clearly boiling under the surface only burn hotter. The Bernie Sanders phenomenon was the dead canary in the liberal coal mine, and the Trump win should have been the klaxon alarm.

It has begun. The GOP is learning how to meme. Now it's getting interesting.

The main reason I swapped from Classical Liberal to 100% Anti-Left is because I remember being told the rap music I enjoyed was the product of Satan by the 1980-90s Christian Right and now I'm hearing the same shit about everything I love from the 2014+ (I blame Twitter) Democrats.

The Progressive Left : David Hogg :: GOP : NRA

I'm pretty sure Trump is aware of the stupid shit that comes out of his mouth. He just doesn't give a fuck. It makes Hillary look like the bigger idiot for losing to an automatic gaff machine.

The sad thing is, due to the media losing their shit over every thing Trump says, means now Millenials probably think shock conversion therapy Spencer seems like a decent guy.

This timeline has taken us to many strange places.

The ride has only begun. The modern left thinks they are the vanguard of the revolution, while they are being led by geriatric women in America and cynical kleptocrats in Europe. Meanwhile the Political Right is undergoing an internal revolution before our very eyes, moving from a largely traditionalists and corporately minded political philosophy to one that embraces the standard right wing beliefs of individualism coupled with the full throated collective rage of the working underclass.

Lets be real here. The people shrieking about white privlige on college campuses are not working class, or even poor. They are actually wealthy entitled assholes being given an education that amounts for an entire years wage of a working class person. Every semester. Not every year. Every semester. These are not oppressed people. These are the privileged people pretending to be oppressed. The Political Right has realized this. The Political left has not. Add to this the toxic racial politics of claiming everyone in the world has the "right" to enter western countries and be granted gibs, and you got a serious fucking problem.

Karl Marx (damn his soul) was 100% correct about the flaws in a capitalist society. The very nature of a capitalist society means there will be winners and losers. And the winners will continue to win more, becoming an ever smaller minority of the population. The losers by comparison will become greater losers, becoming a greater and greater majority of the population. (this is called the Paretu Distribution btw). Eventually the losers will have nothing left to lose, but also account for an overwhelming majority of the population. At which point they rebel and murder the winners. His solution to this very real problem was communism. And it sucked.

But you see, western societies solved this problem. We allowed for the individual to rise above his birth nature. We set up systems of meritocracy that allowed for advancement, and for those incapable of advancing we also set up systems that allowed them to have some dignity to their lives. You know, the evil white patriarchal society the left now wants to destroy, in favor of a form of racial communism and the importation of the unwashed masses of the world. It is a perverse turnabout, but the Political Right is now fighting to preserve the social and economic systems the political left created!

It is honestly fucking hilariously pathetic that the "Tumblr Marketing" I have spoken of when talking about how media institutions like Marvel have managed to utterly destroy their customer base by explicitly shitting on established white/male/not-fucking-gender-spastic supporters in favour of "accessing vast untapped wells of woke POC/LGBT/autistic/incontinent/screeching demographics who will obviously swarm to support us once we get rid of the icky white people" has managed to infect not only much-most of left wing media, but has infected the fucking Democrat campaign strategists.

Like seriously. Setting aside the fact that trading the vast majority (like 70%ish of the country's population) of possible supporters for half their number of possible supporters is just an absolute and fundamental fuckup of mathematics, what the goddamn hell made these people who steer these supposedly powerful and influential bodies so goddamn out of touch and fucktarded to think that the best way to gain the support of minority demographics is to shit on white people?

Here is something even the fucking republicans get...hell even most neo nazis and full on KANGZ cultists get. People who are not personally invested in pathetic "MUH RACE!/MUH GENDER!/MUH RELIGION!" drama (well over 99% of the population who have actual shit to do, lives to lead, and meat to beat) will at BEST have zero interest in supporting a party just because they shit on a different ethnic/gender/religious/sexual group, and at worst will have an extremely negative reaction since they likely know people of that group who they quite like, and thus be motivated to speak against this divisiveness in their personal lives.

Ofcourse the halfwitted marketing/PR consultants who teach that this tactic is an election/sale winner and the cosseted, out of touch political people they sell this shit to are all well insulated in pampered bubbles of rich well connected media cliques and political circlejerks, and thus they assume that since their personal friends and neighbours are fanatical with this fucking Woke horseshit, that this reflects on the rest of the country who they assume to be equally obsessed with "LOOK AT MEEEEE! IM SO HASHTAG WOKE YALL!" idiocy.

And where did this shit get them in 2016?

And not only have they not recognised that the "FUCK WHITEY! AMIRITE MY PEOPLE OF COLOREDS AND TRANNIES?!" tactic backfired in every goddamn way, they are goddamn doubling down on it despite every thinking lefty on the planet screeching at them to stop.

Its been a year and a half and these fucking people still dont goddamn get it. I mean I am fucking thrilled at the promise of future salt here but....for fuck sake this is almost depressing at this point. How can the rich, the powerful, the connected, and the educated be more fucking autistic than goddamn chris chan?!

They were relying too much on the faint hope that self-hating wypipo with huwhite guilt were far more numerous than they actually are. These people are in such an echo chamber bubble that they don't realize that most people aren't white-guilt-riddled self-haters like they are. Sorta like how they can't understand how Trump or <insert name of random Republican Politician here> got elected because "Nobody I KNOW voted for the person!"

Moore came really close to actually winning though, that's the fucked up part.

Yeah, I don't know either. I've never seen that anywhere, before. I have no idea where they might have gotten that idea.

Weird.
