The difference between a consoomer and a fan - and what's the difference between collections and a shrine

Where is the line drawn for you?

Maybe the difference is that fan sees the value of the thing, while consoomer sees the value of the process of consoomation? While the first one is a hobby, the second is kind of mental disorder, when even if the thing is shitty piece of shit you need to BUY it and when it's yours you stop caring. In general you can always distinguish a fan from the consoomer by how he stores his belongings. A collector values his collection, usually it is orderly put and even if the he doesn't have enough space, it still looks OK. But with consoomer it's like everything is fuck knows where.

maybe, but they are also alot more hardcore.
never seen a Starwarscucks and potterfags beating each other, or smuggling fireworks into a cinema, or going on long train rides to show english people what fans look like.
Ohhh...Time to join both trash fandoms and beat the shit out of nerds I'm now the sith of slytherin

So do you want to be team star wars or team potter?
Vaders Ultras or Harrys hools?

lgetting them to beat each other up is much more fun... just imagine a giant tard fight between cucks pushed into a frenzy by consoomerism.
Tard fights between starcucks and lord of the dweebs was great

I think the "so long as the room isn't filled its fine" is the one people have gone for.
The question is, what exactly does that mean?
How much is too much in a room?

The consensus in the consoomer thread is that even a wall unit with stuff can be bad and a shrine.
So this is interesting.

What about stuff like comic con or cosplay.
I think that's just enjoying stuff but idk.

I think the thread has devolved into "what is a consoomer" while at the same time missing out whats the difference between a fan and them.
I'd have hoped people would show as many examples as the consoomer thread on good examples and bad examples.

It's about the same as the difference between drinking alcohol and being addicted to alcohol. You can definitely tell when it's too far but the point it becomes an addiction is hard to make out.

Anyways, my own definition is that a fan absorbs into him the work and gets invested in it, while the consoomer will jump from work to work while completely forgetting what he has just seen. It's no coincidence consoomerism got hyped up with Netflix since that is the ultimate form of "watch, forget, watch something else". There's also a high overlap with wanting social credit for the act of watching a work rather than the work itself.

To those saying that its ok to have stuff so long as it doesn't fill the room, what about these examples from the consoomer thread.

These don't fill the room but are consoomer tier.
They are somewhat neat and organized.
Depends entirely on why he got it. If he can't pick one at random and give a 30 minute lecture on its history and why it's significant, then it is consoomerisim. Otherwise it's just collecting.

Collecting things of one brand == Consooming.

Literally. It's just a new word for an old phenomena with some meta attached to it. It's pretty degenerate.
Collecting itself is a bit O.o to me if I dig into it but it's still quite different.

As a collector of dolls let's say you look for dolls of certain significance, rarity, aesthetics.
As a collector of dolls of a brand like StarWars you just want as much of it as possible and you're interested in what ever that company churns out.
