The "Divine" Community

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
There are legit people on Tumblr crying out against ableism against the poor sociopaths and pyschopaths.

It's so surreal.
Well, these are the same people who think it's "ableist" to call the police on someone having a violent psychotic episode, or to have someone committed to a mental hospital because they're legitimately dangerous. In Tumblr-Land, mentally ill people are perfect angels who can do no wrong, and you're an ableist shitlord if you want them to get help or don't let them do whatever they want.

Aw someone linked to nshrine before I did I was about to cause it's great like a 50/50 split between joke shrines and people who actually think they're some kind of god. It's a shame you can make the shrines private though. The anon feature I guess kind of necessitates that but it makes it too easy to lose good cows.

Godkin as a whole just piss me off because like, the one thing otherkin have going for them (a phrase I use loosely here) is that they're right when they say they're not usually hurting anyone. That if you wanna think you're a fox you're probably kind of obnoxious to be around but no more so than anyone who craves attention. Claiming to be a GOD and demanding people actually worship you though. Asking for fucking sacrifices. Asking for fucking PRAYERS. You're starting a fucking cult, you're starting a goddamn cult and suckering people into worshiping you when they could actually be getting real help for whatever problems they have. This is how things like fucking jonestown start and it is about as far from "not harming anyone" as you can get. Even if you are just some pimply kid on the internet who has a bad home life and probably wants to feel powerful and in control of something, you're adding fuel to the fire of actual narcissistic sociopaths who take legitimacy from the number of people who indulge this fantasy. This is not ok.

For anyone who wants to troll a shrine here are some tips:
- Phrase things compassionately. A lot of these people are used to trolls spewing hate so they just ignore it, but someone going "I pray you stop before someone gets hurt" throws them for a loop. Using the word "pray" in general when leaving a comment is good because then they feel like they can't ignore it. I left a comment like that on one of those shrines and the owner flipped the fuck out on tumblr about how they were dissociating and "couldn't hear them anymore" because they'd gone out of sync with their "divinity" it was great. No matter what you're saying always project a kind of concern.
- Alternatively pray for really creepy things. Take the most fucked up interpretation of their "domain" that you can and leave as detailed a "prayer" as you can manage in the comment. A lot of these guys have wishy washy feel good "I love my worshipers uwu" domains so ruining that aspect is great.
(note this doesn't work on the 3edgy5me gods who are about death or some shit).

These "Gods" who are on and on about death remind me of the villain of the last American Horror Story season - Dandy Mott proclaimed himself to be a god, and that his sole purpose is to "bring death".

Perhaps that's where they got the idea - they heard Mott ranting away and thought, "This unhinged, psychopathic manchild is TOTALLY JUST LIKE ME!!"

Given the ungodly (heh) amount of fictionkin that spring up every time a new media franchise is born you're probably half right about that.
Otherkin is generally a form of power fantasy or escapism. A bad home situation, school situation, or even just dissatisfaction with daily life becomes somewhat better when you can tell yourself you're a dragon or doctor who in your soul and everyone who's ever been mean to you isn't even worth the time of someone like that so why should you care about them?

Deitykin are kind of a hyper distilled form of the above, they're what happens when being a dragon is no longer enough of an armor to get through the day and you're surrounded by people who reaffirm your beliefs that you are something otherworldly. I knew someone on tumblr who posted about a dream they had where they were in their "godly" form and they killed someone in the dream who had been mean to them in the past and then brought them back to life again because they were "afraid of the consequences" because they actually believed that if they killed someone in a dream that person would legit die in real life. Like some fucked up divine Freddy Kruger.

That's the general appeal, gods are intangible by nature so unlike dragons or wolves you don't need to have a tail or breathe fire to prove you are one. You can just passively take credit for the good or bad things that happen in other people's lives. That fifty you found in a mcdonalds bathroom? Totally me answering your prayers for money. Broke your leg in a freak tractor accident? That was me punishing you for being a douche to me. Nothing noteworthy happens either way? Well I'm a god but I'm still trapped in this meat body I obviously don't have access to my full power.

It's like the worst kind of confirmation biase. The "death" gods are just the ones who are a little more open about it being a blatant power trip.

Hm, by and large bored rich people who decide they're bringers of death / somehow divine, yeah, it does seem like given the time of the first divine-kin and the Freakshow episode where Dandy proclaimed himself god, the two events may be correlated. Or I could be secretly donning a tinfoil hat, its easy to see correlation.

I decided to surf the tag and see how bad things have gone, and if any of them have likely "pulled a Mott". I thought it'd be pretty tame "I made that happen" stuff. I wasn't prepared.

Okay, this one brought back some mean Shin Megami Tensei flashbacks. When you sound like one of the most assholeish Law Alignment critters, you better re-examine your life.

This is one who probably played too much Bloodborne.

This one speaks for itself in the sheer derangedness. You can just tell someone is refuting the poster, and he/she is just repeating "I'm a god I'm a god I'm a god" like a broken record.

Be sure to get screencaps. The typical Tumblrina response to critique or mockery is to DELETE FUCKING EVERYTHING, so screencaps are the lifeblood. You can get Nimbus Screenshot for Chrome and Firefox, and it works a treat.

It's pretty clear that their concept of what it means to be a "god" comes almost exclusively from pop culture, with maybe a bit of DnD style polytheism thrown in.

I discovered by conversing with one that "Pulling a Mott" is actually in their lingo.

Found some more, and actually screen shotted this time.

I have to wonder - given many of these are SJWs, do they realize Dandy, the "first divine-kin", murdered by and large people who the SJWs claim to represent and defend?

EDIT: Bigger images, and code.

Honestly, last season of AHS was the weakest of the four so far.

They should be spooky mental patients who get raped by aliens instead.

@Logia_Peter You should probably make sure that there isn't a "resize picture" option ticked on your image hosting site of choice when you upload. Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but keep it in mind when you upload pictures in the future. It's better to put big pictures in spoilers than small pictures that can't be read. You can learn how to use the spoiler code and do a bunch of other neat things here: https://kiwifarms.net/help/bb-codes

The power these people have strikes great fear into me, at least. I wonder how many ants they've brought heavenly death upon with the aid of their good buddy Apollo?

I'll make sure to sacrifice at least the time to laugh at them every once in a while, it's the least they deserve.
Hopefully anyone who seriously identifies as a divine or an otherkin will manage to find a productive and healthy identity sooner than later.

Huh I keep seeing "brainweird" being tossed around in the circles that use terms like neurodivergent more and more. Is that supposed to replace a specific term? Like mentally ill or something? Because brainweird actually sounds more offensive than mental illness like it's not escaping any negative connotations you're actively tacking more on.

At the very least brainweird is going directly into my internal funny sounding insults list, regardless of it's intention.
