The Duckduckgo Skeptic Thread

Might be dumb to post this but I got this message while trying to get into this website, of all the times I've reload the tab to have difficulty to entering the website which results in a "Connection timed out" page or something. I also figured this may lead to this case where I also briefly see that one page where it either tells me to go back, or allow the web browser to lead me hereunder the advanced options by refreshing the page each time when I fail to go here. Despite that, I still manage to get to this site with enough patience and luck on Tor, though I don't know if it was worth it either considering I don't want any third-party plebs finding stuff like this under my address.

Did you try switching TOR nodes?

DDG has now deindexed pirate sites and youtube-dl.
what was that about muh slippery slope fallacy?

Edit: This is apparently not quite as terrible as it initially seemed to me. Its only affecting searches within those sites with the use of things like "site:thepiratebay.org" in the query. You can still find pirate sites and yt-dl with a normal search. It's still suspicious though.
No, 'DDG' hasn't done anything.

DDG is just a shitty frontend on Bing that doesn't work as well that some filthy jew uses to steal money from the gullible. The jew will never change what is shown by his shitty frontend. Just try the same searches on Bing.

Bing delivers exactly the same results for the same queries.

I've been using DDG for around 2 years now and the results were surprisingly good, however since DDG is basically a glorified Bing proxy, the censorship is now getting more evident as websites like KF are also ranking lower;

The "american culture is centered around" test also fails even with "Safe Search" is turned off

Now, one of the features that they implemented and I really appreciate is the answers you get when you search for simple terms like "2 + 2", "100F in Celsius" or even "sha1 password" that give you the result instead of linking a bunch of conversion sites, eg:

The one that really caught my attention was the translation one that works exactly like google does:

But wait, what is that "Learn More" link that I conveniently highlighted? Well...

We’ve partnered with Microsoft to provide a translation feature for some searches.
WTF? So the search results are from Bing and translation is handled by Microsoft, what's next? DDG is now hosted on azure?
I really like using DDG but it's getting increasingly harder to trust them especially with these weird "partnerships" with Microsoft, I just hope that when they eventually sell everything to MS they at least have the decency to warn us beforehand

How to Advertise on DuckDuckGo

To advertise on DuckDuckGo, please visit Microsoft Advertising. By default, when you sign up for a Microsoft Advertising account, your ads should automatically enter rotation into all of Microsoft Advertising's distribution channels including DuckDuckGo.

From what I recall DDG migrated already from AWS to Azure.

I didn't have much problem with DDG when it was largely driven by word-of-mouth but when I started noticing it was getting ads on the radio (admittedly a lot of this was nighttime modern radio, so it was probably cheap with abysmal numbers) bragging about "privacy".

If there's one tragedy about DDG is that it never had much of a golden age, it was more on ideas than competent searching. At least Google had a golden age where it truly was the best thing out there and blew every other search engine at that time out of the water.

duckduckgo really pulled a google with the "censoring misinformation" shit and also wanting to try to stop people from finding torrents when the search engine is literally preinstalled into TOR where 40% or more of people using it torrent lmao
It is pretty hypocritical of duckduckgo to censor "Russian misinformation". When you can literally access darknet markets using duckduckgo, like the since taken down drug markets such as

-Dream (which vendors sold fentanyl there that led to there downfall O'ds & politics)

- Alphabay (Didn't just sell drugs but actual weapons/bombs, seized shortly after)

-Wallstreet (Was also selling people's cc info and fake social security number along with counterfeit goods/cash)

-Empire (managed to stick around the longest because they had a strict tos against vendors selling fentanyl, weapons, and cc info because of the former market's mistakes, ultimately became the biggest for to long and got shut down)

Yandex is a good browser to use if you want uncensored information but you won't be accessing any illegal markets through there like duckduckgo.

I've been using Yandex for a couple of weeks now which has been holding out pretty well.
Surprisingly Yandex is better with image searching than Google or anything else for that matter. I was able to find specific shit that I couldn't find aywhere else.

Image filtering has gotten out of control it seems
