I do think that the irony of the Dark Elves' situation is missed by the general audience. I kinda wish that Bethesda made more of a point on how hypocritical they are.

Also, what is it with the Windhelm Dunmeri white-knighting for the Empire? The Empire is stated as being hated by the Dunmer for abandoning them during the Oblivion crisis and as a culmination of their ebony exploitation and their attempts to force Imperial culture on the Dark Elves, and yet all of the Windhelm Dunmer just talk about how great the Legion is.

Stormcloak Derangement Syndrome, I'm pretty sure.

They'll praise Brunwulf for about 6 months before turning on him and the Empire when the Empire lets Windhelm go broke while the elites live large in Solitude.

Does anyone know if there's a mod that stops everyone in the room staring at you? I'm looking but I can't think what to search for. It looks so weird when an NPC stares at me, then turns their head to the NPC they're talking to, then back to me etc.

Also, possible unpopular opinion: Whenever a character uses an oath based on a real-world one, but with "God" replaced with "gods," (e.g. gods-forsaken) I cringe a little. They should have exclusivley stuck with oaths like "Stendarr's mercy" and "by Azura" IMO.

It's better flavor if oaths and swears for individual gods are used most of the time. In a polytheistic setting, anything invoking an entire pantheon (which would, presumably, include its less savory members) or all of the known deities (definitely including the ones that want to eat people for funsies) should be saved for situations where the one making it is dead serious, has entered a state of utter rage or shock, or when speaking about something that is actually forsaken by their gods.
Calling on everyone, up to and including the creepy Hobo King of the Unwashed, Farfin'ughen the Life Destroyer, and Steve of the Madness Moon, shouldn't be taken lightly.

>flamecloak doesn't keep you warm in survival mode
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

On the other hand, it is weirdly refreshing to play Skyrim without any mods whatsoever again. I think all the gameplay changes the ones I had just took the RPG experience out in favor of making things far more action oriented. I took the alchemy potion and figured out how magic really is the true power of the universe. It was before with enchantments giving the real umpth to weapons after forge tempering but still: four 100 Enchanting level fortify alchemy items with 5/5 Alchemist makes you the most powerful anything on Tamriel.

The closest thing I can think of is No NPC Greetings but that's probably not what you wanted, lol

I like it, but it's schizophrenic at times.
I'm not hating it since I got a patch that fixed some of the food. It still doesn't seem that well thought out though. It's still weird to run into barely clothed NPC's in the mountains or north now that I'm needing to wear Fur and drink hot soup everywhere.

They're typically around fires. It's the wanderers and bandits that make me raise eyebrows. The new vagrant robe set is what I use to strut about. I don't have to use up fire salts for soup, but sometimes I end up with frostbite for a day.

I heard survival mode was shit because it makes your screen blurry half the time, because that's what it does when you have unfulfilled needs. Is that as annoying as it sounds?

It isn't like that. Basically when you hit a level of fatigue or hunger there will be a blurr with maybe a slight color change for a second and then it says "you're feeling *whatever*" then it goes away.

Health doesn't regenerate though, so if you hit low health the screen will constantly have the blurr and heartbeat sound effects until you heal yourself though.

It honestly hasn't been annoying for me at all, but it may have been something fixed with AE. I also haven't had any major illnesses or spent a ton of time in absolutely freezing environments so it may be more consistent/lasting in those situations and I just haven't hit it yet. I'm going to assume not though because I've never seen any effect when I've become cold so far.

I'm just now reaching Unstengrav in my current playthrough so the coldest areas I've hit have been High Hrothgar and Labyrinthian for reference.

I really like this change. Makes roleplaying more interesting if you're going with a one-class kind of character. Combat also feels slightly more urgent.

Have you been to Winterhold yet?
it's really fun, i swear

No, I'm kind of dreading it because I heard horror stories of people straight up dropping dead even with warm armor because they didn't have hot soups. I didn't have much of an issue when I passed through Dawnstar though so I'm hoping that was just from way back in the day and it's been tuned up since then.

To be completely fair, I almost died once because I was going to Azura's statue, but that was from my own ill-preparedness than anything else. I died some other time because I didn't wait for Tolfdir to get to Saarthal before I did, getting stranded in the freezing cold.

The sightless pit saved me and the survival mechanics created a nifty little story of how my Breton master wizard had to crawl his frostbitten ass through a Dwemer ruin infested with all manner of nuisances. I managed to make it to Azura's statue after that. One of the highlights of my playthrough.

I haven't even played Skyrim since the update because SKSE still isn't fully updated. Thanks Bethesda.

I'm pretty sure SKSE is updated at this point. I've had no issues with it over the past 5 days or so. I think it's mods themselves that need to be updated now? Or maybe it's just because my SKSE mods are fairly tame, not the total game changers or anything like that mostly SkyUI and small things.

I've finally noticed that there is an apparent color tint that sticks around when you're really cold, but I never notice it when I'm outside, I only notice it when I enter an interior and start warming up and see it fade away.

Survival Mode is goofy in the sense that resist cold potions don't seem to make you resist cold from weather, yet you still get "cold" status effects from frost spells. But it isn't nearly as much of a gameplay issue as I thought it would be. Overall I'm having fun because it's making me plan out and play in a different way. Restoration magic becomes essential for every battle since I don't want to over encumber myself with a ton of health potions. I'm making a lot more stops up north in order to warm up while exploring, which basically made me visit the Vigil of Stendars headquarters and get restoration training while I warmed up. I don't think I've gone there before the place is destroyed 2011 tbqh.

I've always preferred the older Oblivion 'By the Nine Divines!' rather than just dropping 'the gods' for that kind've reason. The aedra are the sort you'd not weird anyone out by invoking given they're all fairly reasonable in their mythological actions. I doubt they put much thought into invoking the God of Rape and Domination along with the rest.

It's just the Nords being ignorant motherfuckers and thinking their gods are the only ones.
